Time has a strange way of modifying itself in different situations, the small trail Bea had followed by herself had been a five minute walk but as she rushed back to Lowery, time seemed to extend on endlessly; the screams and chirpings fueled Bea's strained body as she circled around a rock and got a full view of what was going on with Lowery.

Lowery sat on the spot Bea had left him, he was swinging his walking stick as twenty or more Compys jumped at him; the critters had watched Bea leave and had decided to take down the weakest link of the small group. As she rushed to disappear the distance between herself and Lowery, Bea notices stings of blood rolling down Lowery's face and arms and rage filled every inch of her soul.

Bea's fighting mode set in as she rose the stick she had picked from the floor and with a high pitched scream she swung the stick, the swooshing sound following the stick as it reached one of the Compys and hit the chicken sized creature so hard on its middle section that the animal flew off and hit a tree nearby, dropping motionless on the ground.

In a matter of seconds the jungle had been filled with screams and screeches, Bea swung her stick around, her legs kicking away the critters that dared to get close to her to try to bite her legs; Lowery was fending off a few of the Compys but it seemed that for one they killed two more arrived to help.

"GET UP!" cried Bea, there was no way they were going to fight this things off.

Lowery looked at Bea, his hands still swinging the bat, the young woman turned to look at him as she slammed her right shoe on the face of one of the critters. "What?" he wasn't sure he could push himself up to his feet.

"GET UP LOWERY!" she cried, she hunched forward and grabbed Lowery's arm, there was no time to lose, her fingers digging into his flesh as she made an epic amount of strength and Lowery grunted loudly as he pushed himself up just as half a dozen more Compys arrived to the attack site.

Grey-ish Compy launched itself forward, she landed gracefully over Lowery's back pack as Bea pulled him up to his feet and rapidly the critter started to bite at Lowery's exposed neck skin; the tech guy screeched with pain and horror and hopelessness as Bea released his arm and acted without a thought.

The instant Bea's hands curled around the Compy's midsection she knew she had made a horrible mistake, she spin on her heels as Lowery continued to fend of a few of the other Compys. The critter hissed with anger and pierced Bea's wrist with its needle like teeth, Bea screamed as she tried to throw the animal to the floor but the animal grabbed her with its thin arms and continued to bite and scratch at Bea's hands.

"NO!" roared Bea, the pain becoming unbearable and horror taking over her body, she swung her arms around and the Compy dropped to the floor, Bea roared with fear and jumped over the head of the Compy, killing it instantly.

"More are coming!" cried Lowery, Bea turned to look at him as a swarm of Compys continued to come, the young woman grabbed his arm and forgetting about his injured ankle she started to run forward, dragging Lowery with herself.

Lowery's body was making an incredible effort to keep up with Bea because he knew that if they stopped running the Compys would overpower them and a death by the bites of chicken dinosaurs was something he didn't want to experience.

Bea pushed the leaves of the small trail she had just been exploring before the Compys decided to attack, the young woman pushed Lowery forward and for a second he stopped in his tracks as he saw what Bea had discovered.

The tech center.

"She found it" thought Lowery, and he cursed himself for doubting her a few minutes ago because unlike Andrew, Bea had actually done everything she could to protect him.

"RUN!" cried Bea, she shoved Lowery forward, the Compy running after them but Bea was sure she had seen something move through the bushes, something bigger than a Compy.

Bea rushed past Lowery and towards the Tech Center, she had to open the door before Lowery arrived and the Compys cornered them and that big thing decided to make its entrance and kill them all.

Bea pulled at the door knob, which clearly didn't give, she screamed and kicked at the door before Owen's voice spoke in her mind "Try the window" Bea looked around, a feet away from her she saw a window big enough to fit her and Lowery, they could look for a room to hide from the Compys once they got inside.

Bea pounded on the window, sweat rolling down her face but the window was not giving in, "This looked much easier in movies" she thought as she continued to bang, the young woman looked over her shoulder to check if Lowery was getting close just to find him beside her, swinging his walking stick and impacting it on the window.

The window exploded into a million reflective diamonds, the loud bang of the breaking glass seemed to startled the Compys that stopped a few feet away from the pair as they watched the crystal land on the floor of the inside of the Tech Center.

"Come I'll push you in!" said Lowery, Bea turned to look at him and then looked down at his foot. "Trust me!"

Bea said nothing, Lowery rpidly helped her get through the window, she landed on all fours over the broken glass and the crystals pierced her hands and knees, but the young woman didn't seem to notice as she turned to look at Lowery, the tech guy was pushing his way into the building clumsily.

Lowery landed with a thud inside the building and as he pushed himself up, the chirping from the Compys disappeared and Bea rushed to the window, she looked out just to watch as the pack of violent chickens disappeared into the jungle; she smiled and turned to look at Lowery.

"You made it" he smiled, "You said you'd find it and you did"

Bea smiled but her happiness was short lived as Lowery's eyes rolled to the back of his head and he stumbled forward as the pain in his body made him lose consciousness. Bea was able to soften Lowery's fall, she had dropped to her knees and had his head over her knees as she covered her own face and started to cry.

She cried because her fried was in terrible agony, she cried because Andrew had left them to fend for themselves, she cried because she didn't know if she would ever see Owen or Barry or Zach again.

She cried because she felt hope drain from her body as the pain from all they had done that day started to take over.

But above all she cried because she wasn't sure she could keep the other promises she had made to Lowery; she wasn't sure they could make it out of that island, at least not all of them.
