8:23am

The light grew brighter and brighter, larger and larger, until, free of the pain and fear I had Felt, I awoke. Staying still and listening, I tried to comprehend what had happened and decide upon a course of action. This was hard, between the residual ache of all the pain and death I experienced, and the feeling of something missing. The absence of the villagers was more painful than their dying presence, and it hurt my entire body. Still, I focused my remaining mental energy to settle upon a course of action, since I knew that it was what I had to do. It was still morning, and I would hide in the woods until the invaders left (which wouldn't be long, once they saw how poor we were) and then go and save as much as I could which I would use for my travels.

One way or another, no matter what it took, I would find out why someone chose our village for such an attack. I would ascertain who was responsible. I would establish where this person or people are.

Then I would kill them.
