Imagine #15: The Past

"Bren, I'm fine just leave Patrick and I alone okay?" you said with an annoyed tone as you shrugged Brendon's hand off of your tiny shoulder and started to head for the door.

"{Y/N}, I'm just trying to look out for you! You're not seeing what I am..." Brendon said as he chased after you and slammed the exit to the studio shut. Brendon has been bugging you for weeks because he thinks that your boyfriend Patrick Stump isn't treating you the way he should and Brendon also believes that Patrick is cheating on you. Of course, you refuse to believe any of this.

"Brendon, there is nothing wrong with Patrick! It's you that has the problem!" you shouted up to Brendon, trying to act big even though he was a good six inches taller than you. "You're just jealous of him, you need to let go of the past Brendon, I'm not yours anymore. I am Patrick's girlfriend and you need to stop acting like you own me..." you said lowly as you watched fear spread across Brendon's face and you could watch as he got more frustrated at every word you said.

"{Y/N} NO! I'm concerned because you're my best friend and I don't want anyone to hurt you like I did because I can't live with myself knowing what I did to you, what I pushed you to do..." Brendon had started yelling but by the time he finished his sentence, he was speaking in a voice barely above a whisper.

"Brendon, I'm not a little kid and you don't have to watch over me like I'm your little sister or something..." you mumbled and then grabbed your backpack and left the studio. You thought you heard Brendon say something else but you didn't feel like listening to him anymore so you shut the door on your way out.

Before you got to the end of the street, you saw Patrick running towards you and he looked out of breath.

"What were you doing in there?" Patrick shouts, and he sounds almost angry.

"I-I was with Bren-" you start before Patrick angrily cuts you off.

"What did I say about being with him?!" Patrick fumed while slamming your body against the brick wall. You let out a small whimper and you felt the wind get knocked out of you. "Don't ever talk to him again, or..." Patrick was out of breath and wasn't able to finish his sentence.

" 'Trick what's your problem?" You said, also trying to catch your breath. Patrick didn't respond, he just pulled you back and slammed you into the wall again, this time you let out a scream.

Within seconds Brendon burst through the studio doors, you tried ignoring the fact that he had obviously been crying but you couldn't help but feel bad.

"Patrick, back away from her..." Brendon said, shaking, probably from sadness or fear.

"Make me!" Patrick hissed through gritted teeth, and he picked you up from the wall again, threatening to slam you down a third time. Thoughts started to swim around in your mind and your head is pounding.

"Don't beat her up, take me instead!" Brendon said to Patrick calmly, "There's no reason for her to get hurt here..." he continued, coming slowly closer while your vision got slowly worse. You felt the pressure lift off your chest and you landed on the ground with a thud and a loud gasp. You wanted to tell Brendon to stop but it was too late, Patrick was stepping towards him and you saw the little bit of confidence that he had leave his eyes.

"Bren-," you were choking on your own breath now and you started to feel sick to your stomach as you saw Patrick raise his fist and then... black.

You woke up in a dingy looking room and your head was pounding even harder than before. You coughed and you though you were going to puke. You weren't even attempting to sit up yet because you didn't think that your head could take that much movement at once. You heard voices coming from either across the room or right outside the door but you weren't sure until you coughed again and you heard a door swing open.

"{Y/N}...," you heard a wheezy voice say from a few feet away. " {Y/N} I'm sorry I let this happen, I knew Patrick was coming, I should've stopped him I just wasn't thinking." Tears escaped your eyes, knowing that it was Brendon that was speaking to you. You felt his hand, freezing as usual, gently brush your hand and you smiled sadly at him.

"Bren," you let out another disgusting cough, "you did the best you can, and that's all I can ask for." You smiled weakly and then coughed again, this time tasting blood in your mouth and you quickly sat up, leaned over the bed, and got sick. Brendon never let go of your hand and you held on to him tightly the whole time. Brendon just sat there and let you do your thing and when you finally felt better, you laid back down and closed your eyes.

"{Y/N}, could you ever forgive me for what happened in the past?" Brendon said after a few moments of solid silence. You opened your eyes slightly, and not having enough strength left to speak, gently nodded your head and then attempted to smile warmly at him. You were able to catch a quick glimpse of Brendon slightly smiling back, but there were tears in his eyes. This was the last thing you saw before going into another deep sleep.
