Chapter 11

"There is a curse that dwells in these mountains. Should any man or woman resort to cannibalism in these woods, the spirit of the weindigo shall be unleashed."

"Oh crap.." Mike mumbled under his breath, I not knowing why.

"You're gonna need to find somewhere safe." The stranger said now stopping his pacing

"The basement might be ok." Sam replied, actually taking this guy seriously.

"Okay, get down there now, all of you, and wait."

"What? Why? For how long?" Sam asked.

"Until Dawn." Emily said, for once staying quite until now.

"Guys, I ran off and left Josh when I heard screaming." Mike kept quite, knowing how much it would anger me.

"No, no you didn't! You couldn't have done that!" I yelled, first getting angry stepping into Mikes face.

But then, my usual self crept in and my sadness hit me like a ton of bricks, "No, he's ok, he's still there, please..." I cried, my legs going limp, falling into Mikes arms.

He held onto me, yet I wish it was Chris, not him holding me, for it was him who left him there to die.

"Where'd you leave him?" The stranger asked.

"In the shed." Mike replied, still holding me up while the tears poured out of my eyes.

"Ahh. Your friend will already be dead." The stranger replied, my heart stopping at his words.

"No, that's not true! I already lost Hannah and Beth, there is no way in hell he's gone too! It's either I leave with him or I will accept the same fate the Washington's suffered on this mountain tonight!" I left Mikes arms, but still held onto him for support.

"Bella, your not saying what I think your saying?" Chris said in disbelief.

"No, I said exactly what I meant. It's either I leave with Josh or I die here tonight." I told everyone firmly, not taking back on my word.

"I lost to much here, to much. I'm still having visions and hearings Hannah and Beth's voices today, when it happened a year ago. I will never be able to recover from this. It's either all or nothing for me tonight." I proclaimed, now standing up tall without Mike's support.

"Listen, Bella, we're not losing anyone else on this mountain tonight." Sam said coming up to me and grabbing my arm.

"If you don't want to lose anyone else, then all of you better do whatever in your power to get Josh back." I held my ground.

"You're not serious...Bella do you know how much it would kill me to lose you...?" Mike whimpered, something I haven't heard come from him before.

"If you die, you know it's not just be you who will be hurt right? You'll be hurting me, Sam, Mike, and would you really do that to your brother? Chris cares about you so much and so do all of us. It would kill us inside if you did anything like that." Ashley replied grabbing my shoulder from behind me.

"Death doesn't happen to you Bella! It happens to everyone around you, okay! To all the people left to stand at your funeral, trying to figure out how to live the rest of their lives without you in it!" Chris yelled, snapping at me for the first time since last year.

"Well then you all better hope that he isn't dead." I growled, starting to walk towards the door. I did feel bad for my brother, I wanted to tell him that I wouldn't die and go up and hug him, but I had to get Josh back.

"Were do you think you're going girl?" The stranger said, coming up behind me.

"Like I said, I'm going to get Josh back." I replied with a blank face, not caring about my well being anymore.

"Then I'm coming with you. I'm not letting you go out there alone, I'm not letting you die." Chris said, following us.

"You can't go out there guys!" Ashley yelled, worried for our safety.

"Bella's right. I'm suppose to be his best friend and I let him down." Chris finally realizing his mistakes.

"No, he let you down Chris. He let all of us down." Ashely said, still trying to convince us to stay, but nothing was turning me back now.

"I don't care. I'm going with my sister to get him." Chris said, just determined as I.

"Then I'll go with you two. The rest of you go down to the basement and be safe. Don't go outside again until we're back." The stranger said leaving the fire, walking up to us.

"You, girl, don't seem to understand the magnitude of this situation." The stranger said catching up to me on the way to the door.

"We'll were going to get Josh aren't we?" I said still with a blank expression on my face, just numb to all emotion now.

"No, I'm going to get Josh, you're going to help me. Do you understand me?" The stranger said assertively.

"I don't care how we do it as long as we bring him back." I kept waking, grabbing my coat from the hook.

"You need to follow me and do everything I tell you." He said pointing at me.

I didn't reply, just nodded my head. After getting on my jacket, I went go get Chris when I turned around and saw him and Ashley talking. I didn't make them aware to my presence, I just stood in the corner and watched their conversation as a smile crept onto my face for what I think the first time in hours.

"Hey, come back safe." Ashely said before pulling Chris into a short sweet kiss.

A small smile involuntary appeared on my face, knowing that this is what he wanted for so long. Did a horrific night like this really have to happen to bring them together? Man, my brother.

"Come on Chris, we got some killin to do." I chucked, not knowing what I was going up against, but my fear has gone away, for it didn't matter to me if I died or not. All that mattered now, is that I got Josh back home alive.
