"Oh, uh, yeah," She dismisses. "So what's for dinner?"

"I vote for potatoes and corn!" Peter pipes up. Rolling my eyes I mutter a fine before heading back into the kitchen.

"What kind of corn do you want? Sweet corn? Corn on the cob?" Peter digs through the cupboard.

"We don't have corn on the cob," I sigh.

"Yeah we do, I picked it up from the store," He counters.

It's odd how normal this is. Us cooking dinner, him picking up food from the store. I shake my head, recalculating what he said.

"What? Really?" I push him aside, peering into the cupboard. Sure enough, there was a small bag of corn on the cob.

"We might as well eat it tonight, it's fresh so it'll go bad soon," I shrug, attempting to hide my excitement.

"Aye-Aye, Captain," He pulls out a pan, preparing to cook the golden goodness. I smile to myself. Sometimes he's not a complete baboon.

Chris's POV

Stretching my limbs, I roll over only to be greeted with a sleeping Anna. I'll let her get her rest, I think to myself. She's tangled in the blankets, looking rather peaceful despite all the stress she's had lately.

I crawl out of bed and head to the kitchen for some food. I run into Peter as he steps out of the kitchen, arms full of food.

"Hey man," He greets cheerily.

"Hey," I mumble.

Popping a bagel in the toaster, I lean against the counter and Peter comes back in for more food.

"I thought we were supposed to ration the food?" I quirk a brow at him.

"I'm only eating the parishables. They have an expiration date you know," Peter winks before disappearing back into the office. The ding of the toaster catches my attention as I grab a plate. Smothering the little pastries with cream cheese, I decide I also want some milk. I pour myself a glass and join Peter at the table.

As I take a bite of my bagel, I freeze and look over to Peter who is slirping on noodles.

"Cood yoh be any louer?" I say, mouth still on my bagel.

"What was that?" He asks. Holding up my finger I finish my bite.

"I said 'Could you be any louder?'"

"I could try," He replies.

"Just be quiet," I roll my eyes and take another bite.

Just then Anna walks up and sits across from us.

"Good morning beautiful," I smile at her.

"Morning," She hums. "Hey, a bagel, are you gonna eat that?" She looks up at me, batting her eyelashes.

"Yeah, sure," I reply as she's already scooting the plate over to her. She takes a bite and hums in satisfaction.

"This is good," She devours it quickly.

"Here," I pass her my glass of milk and she takes it gratefully.

"Hey, Peter, can I have some of those carrots?" She grabs a handful.

"Hey!" Peter glares at her. "What are you? Pregnant?" The second the words leave Peter's mouth, Anna's eyes snap to mine, as I do the same, and she begins coughing up milk.

"No!" She shrieks.

"What's going on?" Dawn walks up, noticing the spilled milk.

"Nothing, I just asked why she's eating like there's no tomorrow," Peter shrugs.

"You're the one who eats like everything is going to disappear if you don't eat it," Dawn scoffs, clearly cranky.

"It might as well," Peter shovels apple slices in his mouth.

"Don't forget, it's Sunday," Dawn disappears into the kitchen. When she comes back out, she continues as she sits down, "We need to keep training, we've had Seikoraes almost every night so far."

Peter and Dawn finish eating, as Anna brings Drako a cup of coffee and a bowl of oats. Soon we're all dressed and headed out for the gym.

"Chris and I are going for a jog," Dawn announces once Peter and Anna enter the gynasium doors, leaving Dawn and I in the hall. I stare at her confused but she starts jogging. I glance at Peter as he looks disappointed and Anna who is confused, before scrambling after to catch up.

"How long have you and Peter been friends," she bluntly asks as I near her speed, panting.

"We've," I wheeze and she slows down, but not much, "Since we were," I pause trying to remember.

"Like five or six, maybe?" I finally answer.

"Has he ever had a girlfriend?" She turns a corner, and I scramble to follow.

"Well," I mull over my thoughts.

"Has he ever had a serious girlfriend, one he actually liked," She pushes.

"No," I respond quietly. "But you're different."

"How so," She stops in her tracks, standing still in the hall.

"Well, the things he does for you, he wouldn't do for anyone else. He might be getting some things wrong but his heart is in the right place," I stand a few feet ahead of her, where I had stopped.

"I've never seen him this head over heels for anybody," I deadpan. "You must be pretty far under his skin."

She stares at me, thoughts flying behind her eyes as she absorbs what I'd said. Slowly she nods before starting a slow jog.

I follow suit, the two of us running in silence.

We arrive back at the gym and slip in the door, a god awful noise echoing off the walls.

"My hands, your hands tied up like two ships,

Drifting weightless, waves try to break it,

I'd do anything to save it,

Why is it so hard to say it?" Peter sings like a dying seagull.

"My heart, your heart,

sit tight like bookends,

Pages between us, written with no end,

So many words you're not saying,

Don't wanna wait til it's gone

You make me stro-" He turns to see Anna laughing as he embarrasses himself in front of Dawn.

His cheeks flare and he scratches the back of his neck.

"Uh, hey guys, how was your jog?" His eyes bounce off the walls as he avoids our gaze.

"Fine," Dawn growls. "Chris." She drags me back into the hall.

"I thought you said he liked me," Dawn crosses her arms, a slight blush making their way to her cheeks.

"He does," I furrow my eyebrows, "Why?"

"Then why was he serenading Anna?" She snaps.

"He wasn't. He was probably singing about you," I explain. Her composure softens a bit as she rolls my words around in her mind. Huffing she storms back into the gym.

I step inside, curious as to what she's about to do. She storms up to Peter, eyes glaring, fists clenching, looking like she wants to deck him.

Peter's face scrunches up, anticipating the hit. The hit that never comes. Roughly she grabs his face in her hands and crashes her lips to his.

Just as quickly as it had happened, she's walking off to the boxing room. Peter stands still, eyes wide, mouth slightly ajar. As Dawn's action's sink in, a small smile creeps onto his face.

"Yes!" He shouts, throwing his fist in the air. "Woohoo! Ah, man did you see that? She was totally all like into me and stuff." He beams.

"Alright boys, let's get to working out, Peter you haven't done anything all day," Anna smiles, shaking her head as Peter high fives me.
