When we've finished we head to the front of the store where Anna is waiting with grocery bags full of clothes. A few seconds later Dawn approaches carrying a duffle bag of ammo and a book bag with weapons.

We head out the doors to see Drako unlatching the back of the truck. Peter and Drako struggle to get the cart in the up but eventually they do. The rest of our supplies is piled in the back seat of my camaro. Finally we head to our new found home, the road silent as the day comes to a close. The sun hides behind a set of trees, leaving a pink glow in the sky.

We pull into the school and unload, ready to settle in for the night. Anna begins to separate the clothes as Peter, Dawn, and I store the food. Drako sits at his desk keeping watch. Nobody says a word and the strange reality of what our world has become settles in. We're all silently grieving for the ones we've lost and the world we knew, the world that fell apart.

We may never get out of this alive. Nobody is going to save us. We'll die, sure, but we'll die fighting at the very least.

"Seikorae's, one off the science wing, two to the east," Drako's voice comes out sounding exhausted.

"Peter, Chris, let's go," Dawn barks.

"I'm coming too," Anna stares Dawn down, fists clenched.

"No, you're not needed," Dawn dismisses her, ignoring Anna's glare.

"I'm coming," Anna growls.

"You're staying here, that's an order," Dawn hollers back, stopping to glare dangerously at Anna.

"No, I'm not," Anna's knuckles turn white.

"Yes, you are," Dawn takes a step toward her.

"You gonna make me?" Anna snaps. Dawn looks down, shaking her head disappointed.

"You're staying here and that's final," Dawn's voice comes out quiet yet sturdy.

"Who the hell do you think you are? Do you think bossing people around is fun, I'm going and that's final. You can't fucking tell me what to do," Anna's screaming now.

"Stand down soldier," Dawn is standing nose to nose with Anna in a flash.

"I'm not you're fucking soldier," Anna snaps.

"Ladies, knock it off, we have more important things to worry about," Peter cuts in.

"Anna, just listen to her. Stay here, if they need help you can go," Drako's eyes stare into Anna's soft blue ones, coaxing her into following Dawn's command.

Anna's shoulders finally drop and she hangs her head as she begins to walk over to our makeshift room.

"Let's go, we've wasted enough time. Peter and Chris, you get the ones to the East. I'll go to the science wing," Dawn grabs her crossbow and we head out.

Peter and I take off running to the East end of the building and duck into a classroom. Peter silently unlocks the window and begins pulling it up when we notice at the edge of the trees there are a few more pairs of red eyes.

Quickly closing the window and relocking it, we head for the stairs. Once again we find ourselves in a classroom on the East end of the school, this time on the second story. Skillfully unlocking the window and opening it we take aim on the two closest Seikoraes.

A curt nod from Peter signals our first shot. The creatures drop to the ground and we fire another shot, killing them completely.

Three more come out of the tree line and we take open fire, only missing a few shots. Suddenly four are running from every direction and we continue firing, the sounds of our gunfire echoing in the almost empty world.
