-Chapter Seven- point five.

"Gentlemen, take your partners into your arms and dance the night away!" Seriously? I know this Cameron guy is the host but come on- honestly, who speaks like that?

My attention goes to the already prepared couples. Everyone seems like they belong here, like they can just appear on this set and do everything by the book without a single mistake. Although my dress makes me look the part, I can't help shake the feeling that I'm the elephant in a herd full of giraffes.

I'm brought out of my fragile reverie when a hand rests on my shoulder bringing me back to reality.

"Rose." His voice emotionless as usual. "Come on," Stiffly he places his hands on either side of my waist and I automatically wrap my arms around his neck.

"Rose?" I whisper as we proceed to dance to the new song.

"Rose." He confirms,  "Rosy cheeks and red hair. Ironically feisty, also red but not a rose red. More of a fiery scarlet."

A bubble of laughter slips from my lips.

"What are you laughing at?" He asks confused.

"You! You're so random and I just realised I have no idea what you're even rambling about."

"Rambling? You're the rambler. The first time you spoke to me you blew up in my face with a bombful of accusations. Maybe I should call you Rambles. Yeah, it suits you better."

How did we get from Rose to freaking Rambles?

"Rambles? You make me sound crazy."

"That's because you are." He whispers, his eyes alight with not his usual coldness or anger. Could it be... amusement?

No- he's not smiling though. But you can still feel amusement and not smile right?

"Is it possible that the emotionless robot Noah Matthews is amused?" I question aloud.

Swiftly he lifts a hand and gestures to his still face. "Does it look like I'm amused?" He raises an eyebrow.

"They always say, the eyes give you away." I grin upwards.

"Not in this case. Not with me anyway," I feel him stiffen his hold on me and take a step back slightly so there is more distance between our near-touching chests.

"Relax," I stare at him, dropping my smile a bit. "I'm just messing with you."

"I know." And my eyes widen at his sudden cold tone and expression.

"Seriously, what crawled up your ass in the last second?" I snap.

"Nothing."

"Oh my God. This is so pathetic. You're basically the replica of a girl refusing to tell her boyfriend what's up when she's in a shit mood. Just because you carry this whole cold exterior around doesn't mean the second you drop one of your shields you just have to create another freaking twenty, making you go even further back than the start line." I huff in frustration.

If it's possible, his expression hardens even more and I know that I'm just poking the hibernating bear. Why do I always seem to make situations worse than they already are?

"Urgh I'm sorry. I've just been having a crap week. Sorry for taking it out on you." I'm the idiot who adds fuel to fire. I'm the idiot whose actions are never short from hastiness mixed with recklessness. I feel increasingly horrible when his expression goes blank and he says nothing at all.
