When I got to school the next morning, Jackson was waiting patiently by my homerooom door.

"Hey Kenedee" he shouted to me as I neared him. I grabbed his hand and traced the letters H-I with my fingers into his palm.

"Woah, thats awesome!" He marveled at his hand, and then suddenly remembered he had something to say.

"Did you read my letter?" He smiled at me hopefully. I pulled out a pad and a pen from my back and began to write furiously on it.

Thanks, but I don't need someone

to feel sorry for me.

He read it outloud once i was finished. His expression fell.

"hey wait, thats not-" The bell rang, and my homeroom teacher, (who was a total b***h) came out to bombard us.

"Mr. Powell, Please go to your homeroom" She crossed her arms sternly and glared at Jackson. I giggled, but noone could hear it. Jackson sighed in defeat, but turned to me before he left.

"I'll talk to you later, Kenedee" and then he surprisingly, accurately placed his hand on my shoulder, squeezing it softly before he darted down the hall.

I was dissapointed that Jackson couldn't take a hint. I didn't want pity from him. I didn't want to be popular. Jackson was in my creative writing class, which I was now not looking forward too. Sadly, the first 3 classes flew in the blink of an eye, and soon enough it was time for creative writing.

Upon entering the room, Jackson was nowhere in sight. I breathed a sigh of relief as I took my seat. It was funny almost, being invisible and trying to hide from someone. The bell rang, and Mr. Landry began class.

"Today, we will be beginning our long anticipated co-ed short story. you must work together in-" Jackson burst into the classroom, obviously not worried that he was late, or interrupting.

"Thank you for gracing us with your presence Mr. Powell, Please take a seat." Mr. Landry shuffled a bit and Jackson headed towards me. I cursed under my breath when he sat down next to me. Mr. Landry continued.

"You must work together to collaborate an interesting and creative short story on whatever you may choose, a rubric is coming around now to outline any formalities. To make this a little less painful, you may choose your own partners." My heart dropped. I didn't really have any friends except for..

I glanced in Jacksons direction and he was smiling maniacly at me. I frantically grabbed his hand and traced the letters N-O in his palm with my index finger. He smirked even harder

"Mr. Landry!" Jacksons hand shot up in the air.

"Yes Jackson" He headed in our direction.

"I want to work with Kenedee" He announced proudly. His usual partner Christine turned and glared at me violently, but Jackson was too busy smiling and didn't seem to notice.

"Thats a fantastic idea Jackson" Mr. Landry scribbled our names down on a piece of paper and continued down the row of chattering students. I stared after him, completely dumbfounded. Ohhh... the unfairness. Jackson wrote down some numbers on a piece of paper and slid it in front of me.

"Text me" he said.

"Now class, if you could please take out the homework from last night.." I fished in my backpack for the homework, and I didn't hear from Jackson the rest of class.
