"Why do you write like you are running out of time?"
It was a question no one ever asked her.
She only heard it in whispers.
People only saw the pages.
The notebooks filled with observations.
The margins covered in notes.
The sketches drawn by candlelight, sometimes until the ink dried on her fingers.
They saw a young woman incapable of passing by something unknown without trying to understand it.
But they did not see the reason.
They did not understand why Ashera wrote as if tomorrow could be taken away from her.
Why she filled every page as though one day her memories could be stolen from her.
Why she preserved every detail, every discovery, every fleeting thought with such precision.
Ashera wrote as if ink itself were a second memory.
As if words could hold onto what time carried away.
As if, as long as she kept writing, nothing could truly be taken from her.
She wrote because the world forgot.
Because a lost observation could become an unreachable answer.
Because a story never told could eventually become a story that never existed.
But there was one thing Ashera had never considered.
That ink could survive where her own memory would fail.
That her own pages could one day contain traces of a story she no longer remembered living.
And that the silence left behind by an unmoving pen could be more terrifying than all the questions she had ever tried to answer.
Because ink keeps secrets.
But sometimes...
It also keeps what we have forgotten.

Welcome to Silent Ink!
This story is a fanfiction set in the world of Witch Hat Atelier. It follows the journey of Ashera, an original character (OC), as she faces the mysteries of memory, the secrets of magic, and the limits of what one can understand when a part of their own history escapes them.
Through her perspective, this story explores the relationship between knowledge, memories, and identity. For Ashera, writing is not simply a way to preserve information: it is her way of preserving the world around her, to give meaning to what she observes, and to make sure that nothing important disappears.
But what becomes of a person when even their own memories no longer entirely belong to them?

Thank you for giving this story a chance.
Silent Ink is a more introspective story, centered around unanswered questions and the price one might be willing to pay to reclaim what has been lost.
I hope you enjoy discovering Ashera, her view of the world, her insatiable curiosity, and the journey she will have to undertake to understand that some truths are not always meant to be uncovered.
I would also like to mention that English is not my first language.
I have done my best to write this story with care. There may still be occasional mistakes or expressions that do not sound entirely natural to native English speakers.
