I wake up as the sun peaks through my window. Rolling over, I notice that it's 7:08 a.m. I have half an hour before school starts. Jumping out of bed, I quickly throw on a red striped shirt, and skinny jeans. I quickly do my hair in a side braid, and swipe on some mascara and lip gloss. Throwing on some black flats, I run out the door to my car.

It's a nice car, silver on the out side with black leather seats. The one my dad gave me for my sixteenth birthday. I turn on the radio, and listen as it plays a pop song. When I get to school, almost all the parking spaces are filled. I see one, and go for it until a shiny red Porsche steals it.

"Hey I was going there!!!" I shout at the tall, tan, blonde cheerleader as she steps out. She's wearing all designer clothes, and looks at me as though I were the bird that pooped on her car.

"Well I got there first so looks like you're out of luck."

I roll eyes and find a different parking spot. Running to my locker, I grab my books then hurry to class, arriving right as the bell rings.

"Ohh! Barely made it miss Hart." Says Mr. Premont, my English teacher.

I nod, slightly out of breath seeing how I had to run from the last row in the parking lot, to my locker at the back of the school, up the stairs, and down the hallway to his class.

The school day goes by in a blur, and I soon find myself back home. When I get inside, I see my step mom doing yoga in the living room.

"Oh hello Maya!" She says, doing downward dog.

"Hey. Did I get any letters today?"

It was senior year. The middle of May. I should be getting my letters from colleges soon.

"You did! They're on the counter."

I walk into the kitchen, and see a small stack of letters all addressed to me. Some from Julliard, Princeton, BYU, and surprisingly, Stanford.

Who would have ever thought that I would have gotten a letter from Stanford. While I did apply, my chances of getting in age very slim.

I open all the others first, accepted to Julliard, denied by Princeton and BYU, and I carefully opened the one from Stanford. With my luck I'd just get in to Julliard.

"Dear Maya Hart. We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Stanford University's art program with a full ride scholarship. School begins September 1, 2018. We advise you to come two weeks in advance as to get accustomed to your new surroundings. Sincerely, Mr. Belnap, head administrator of Stanford University."

I scream, my mom rushing into the kitchen.

"What happened?"

"Nothing, I just got into Stanford!"

My mom screams with me, and she says, "So is that where your going to college?"

"I think so. It's an Ivy League, and only a select few get in. Plus I get a full ride scholarship."

"Wow. I'm sure you are going to do great." She says. Walking back to the living room to finish her yoga.

Wow. Stanford University. I can't believe I actually got accepted.
