was it really a mistake?

Lucy ran into the bullpen 3 minutes late, her vanilla mocha got messed up and she needed it to be fixed, basically forfeiting a calm day for a day of non-stop "you were 3 minutes late boot" from the one and only Tim Bradford. 

Tim very much knew how much Lucy hated being called boot, but he couldn't help it, the way her nose scrunched and eyebrows furrowed at him every time, she looked like a little mouse. 

To her surprise, no one really noticed she was late, everyone was sitting at their desks, completing their paperwork or catching up on gossip from the weekend, but as soon as Grey walked in the energy shifted, his face was reading as if he was about to deliver a death notice. Upon his command, Angela, Nyla, Nolan, Celina, Lucy, and Tim all walked into the bullpen awaiting this what seemed to be tragic news.

"okay." Grey spoke, tone unreadable. "unfortunately, we have received  intel that there is a major drug shipment happening outside the US, and it's related to one of our previous cases." He said as he pulled a mugshot onto the screen.

"Dominic Bublè." Angela scoffed. "life in prison for... well... a lot of things" 

"so why does the LAPD have to get involved" Tim asks as if he could be doing something else. 

"well Tim, since you so kindly asked" grey replied with a commanding tone, "they need someone, or someones to go undercover and bust these guys. That's where you and Chen come in." Grey said with a slight grin. "You two have to go become this loving couple that willing to purchase -"

"no." Lucy deadpanned. "im not going undercover with Tim, not again"

"I'm afraid you don't have a choice. last time I checked there are only two other people that look like Jake and Sava" Grey spoke, completely uninterested. 

"ohh that's why it has to be us" Tim exclaimed, his eyes catching Lucys. 

They continued their briefing, and it was later learnt that they were getting a vacation to the Maldives for this OP. Lucy was beyond excited, she'd never been to the Maldives but of course Tim had to be there. and worst of all they had to act like a loving couple. Again. 

Their breakup was still pretty fresh, I mean, it had only been 4 months but Lucy needed more time to get over Tim. She loved him is ways she could never imagine, yet he still left her like she didn't matter, and that hurt. She knew this OP was going to be hard, on both of them. Lucy was well aware that Tim still had feelings, I mean he literally told her during the wildfire, but she couldn't bring herself to say it back, she didn't even know if she did have feelings for him anymore, let alone still love him.

Her shift ended early, as grey had asked them to go prepare as the plane was set to leave at 5:45am. Upon arriving back to her apartment, she got a message. 

Tim: "Hey"
