Zayn’s POV
That’s it.
The text was sent, now all we have to do is wait…
Easier said than done.
Looking around at the lads with a sweeping gaze I noted that all of us were showing the normal signs of nervousness.
Harry was jiggling his leg impatiently, whilst gently massaging the curls on his head.
Liam was pacing backwards and forwards across the wooden floor of our lounge.
Louis was playing with the laces of his converse untying and then re-tying them continuously.
And Niall?
Well Niall was just being Niall….
He was eating.
No surprise there then.
I began to smile at the lad’s stereotypical behaviour coming through in there nervousness. God before even looking at them I could already tell what they would be doing.
They are so predictable.
Josh’s POV
If I had to place one word to pinpoint my mood at this exact moment in time it would be relaxed. We were lying on the conservatory roof looking up at the clouds floating around the light blue sky, playing the guess the shape of the cloud game like little kids.
‘Snail’ Britt spoke softly the calm radiating out of her voice. I chuckled looking at the blob she was pointing at in the sky.
‘Bitch please if that’s a snail then I’m a griffin’ I snapped my fingers sassily before rolling onto my stomach to get a better look at Britt’s peaceful face.
I watched as a smile quickly spread across her face at my reaction and she supressed her laughter. ‘How cool would it be though to actually be a griffin?’ she mumbled with awe in her tone.
In one swift move she had rolled over onto her stomach and was looking directly into my eyes. As soon as our gaze connected I had this random urge inside of me to protect her.
‘Josh will you get me a griffin pleaassseee?’ she asked me like a little kid asking their parent for a new toy to play with.
I took a deep breath and tore my gaze from hers focusing on the question she asked me, ‘Well Griffins aren’t exactly real Britt’ I tried to reason with her knowing before she even said anything that she would continue to question me.
‘They may not be real but they are awesome’ she shrugged casually like the thought of keeping a non- existent mythical creature for a pet was natural. God she was so crazy, looking up into her gaze again I could see the happiness nestled over the top of her eyes showing that she was enjoying herself. But I had seen the pain that was showed in her eyes. It was so obvious; people had hurt her, and hurt her bad. I could tell from the way she would flinch at little insignificant movements, that she didn’t trust people. She expected someone to hit her.
As that thought nestled into my head I felt anger seeping through my body as I realised how unfair that was. Nobody had the right to hit her. She doesn’t deserve all the stuff she goes through. She deserves the happiness to not just spread over the pain and misery underneath, she deserves to be fully happy. And with that I found myself swearing that I would help make that happen. The world cannot lose this girl.
Not knowing exactly how to tell her all of this I simply placed my hand on top of hers looked deep into her eyes beyond all the pain and whispered ‘You’re so amazing’, needing her to see the truth behind my words.
