Dear Autumn

I never believed in love or tried to understand it. I simply thought it was a fleeting emotion people let themselves fall into. You walked into the threshold of my heart and yanked the door right open. I finally understood why men went to war for their countries and fought with all their hearts. Oh darling, you entrapped me with your existence. I felt my heart plummet and my knees gave out, you shook me to the core. You stared into my eyes as if you wanted to touch my soul and I guess you did. I had been looked at before, called beautiful by lustful souls but you, my Autumn called me beautiful with a gentle voice that made me believe in everything good in this world. You made love feel less like chaos and more like truth arriving unannounced. You did not demand my heart, you only recognized it and in doing so, you taught me that love is not a loud conquest but quiet recognition. I was never the same after you saw me.
