Chapter 1

Emily's point of view

"No!" I yelled as I lost a match of Black Ops 2. "Come on man! Stop sneaking a peak at my screen." I said and he laughed.

"The television is only so big Emma." He said and I stared at the top screen intently. "Come on, you gotta up your game if you wanna beat me."

"You're winning by three points sunshine," I pointed out and he chuckled. "I'll win. I promise you." I said and he nodded.

"Kids, we have visitors." Miss K said but I didn't pay much attention to it. I needed to win this match, if I didn't, I had to do his homework.

"Suck it!" I cheered as I finally caught up with him. "You ain't shit." I said and we both laughed a bit. "I'm gonna win. I'm almost at twenty."

"Me too." He said and I could feel the eyes of a few other kids on us. "Come on. I need two more kills."

"Guess what?"

"What?"

"Swarm." I said as I used my scorestreak. He gasped and his screen went red. "Oh, oh, oh yeah!" I cheered and jumped up, doing a small victory dance. "I won."

"Damn. I lost to a girl." He huffed and I nodded. "What's your homework?" He asked me and I stopped dancing.

"Solving multi-step inequalities." I said and he groaned. "It's easy but time consuming, have fun." I said and smiled.

"Devon, Emily, come on now. We have guests." Miss K said and I turned around. I saw two couples, a straight one and then a gay one.

"Sorry. I get really into my games, you know that." I said and she nodded. "Um, hi?"I said and the gay couple chuckled.

"Hello." The one with somewhat curly hair said. He was literally ignoring all the girls who were fainting and squealing over them.

"What brings you here Mr. Aussie man?" I asked him as I turned my Playstation controller off, not even needing to look at the screen to see what I'm doing.

"Decided to stay here for awhile. We own a really nice beach house out here and wanted to just chill." He said and I nodded, Devon going over to his friends.

The couple walked over and I chuckled. "Sorry I'm not really dressed for this meeting and stuff. I uh didn't know anyone was coming." I said, looking at my stained shirt.

"It's fine, don't worry about it." The one with darker hair said. "Your name is Emily?" He asked and I nodded.

"Emily Maryanne." I said and they nodded. "What brings you here to this lovely little place? Surely two famous teenagers wouldn't be looking to adopt." I said and they laughed.

"You know who we are then?"

"I just know you're in a band called 5 Seconds of Summer. Other than that, I have absolutely no clue who you are. I don't lay attention to people I don't necessarily like." I told them and they nodded.

"Understandable. I'm Ashton and this is my boyfriend Calum." He said and I smiled. "However, you are wrong. We are looking to adopt, a girl to be precise."

"Why?" I asked confused. "Do you have time? I mean, tours are months long and you have busy schedules and stuff." I said and they shrugged.

"Always wanted to be the father my dad never was." Ashton said and smiled at Calum. "Plus, Calum has always wanted a daughter so after a few months of debating it, we decided to go to an adoption center during our break."
