Jisung's quiet hums filled the small flower shop as he skillfully rearranged the pink bouquet. "Hmm," he sighed, analysing his work. "Too much pink, maybe? It looks lopsided." He reached over the counter to grab some eucalyptus leaves from the bucket. The counter was littered with flower stem clippings, discarded flowers and petals, proof of his hard work and dedication for the past hour. Jisung added the green leaves to the bouquet, giving the bouquet a fresh look. The pale pink roses blend seamlessly with the peach carnations; the small sprigs of white baby's breath give it a soft, subtle look, contrasting with the boldness of the roses. And finally, the variety of green leaves finished the look. Jisung stepped back, scanning his bouquet for any imperfections.
Suddenly, the doorbell jingled. "Hey, Jisung!" came a bubbly voice. Jisung turned around to see Jeongin at the door. He was hugging a bucket of fresh flowers, the water from it spilling a little onto his shirt. "Flower delivery for our little artist!"
Jisung smiled, putting down his clippers to help Jeongin carry the flowers in. They placed the buckets on the floor behind the counter. "Thanks, Jeongin," Jisung said. "I was running out of pink roses."
"Big order, huh?" Jeongin asked, gesturing to the mess and the large bouquet on the counter. "Felix was telling me how you stayed up late for the past week sketching your designs."
"Yeah," Jisung replied, rubbing the back of his neck. "Client's wedding. Forty floral arrangements for the venue and ten for the bridal party. It's a large-scale event."
"Wow, keep up the good work. Felix is coming in 10 minutes, he's just grabbing coffee."
"Thanks for your help, Innie."
"No worries," Jeongin smiled. "I'll be on my way, don't want to keep our artist from his craft, do we?"
Jisung waved goodbye before returning to his bouquet. Felix and Jeongin always made jokes about his obsession with flowers, so much so that he opened his own flower shop. Since then, flowers became an even larger part of his life; it was now more than a small hobby, and Jisung wouldn't have it any other way.
Ten minutes later, a bundle of sunshine came bursting through the door. "Jisung!!!!!" came the unmistakable voice of Felix. "I got your iced mocha!" he chirped, carrying a cup holder with an iced mocha and a strawberry milkshake. "Come get a break, we can finish the bouquets together and then deliver them this afternoon."
Jisung sighed and grabbed his drink for Felix. "Thanks," he smiled, taking a seat on the floor beside him. Jisung sighed, tired. He'd been working since the sun rose, making sure the bouquets were perfect for delivery. It had been a long week with the client's upcoming wedding. Floral decorations were delivered the day before, and now Jisung had to finish the bouquets for the bridal party. "Did you hear what happened at Changbin's shop the other day?" Felix asked, finishing the last of his drink. Changbin was Felix's best friend who worked at the tattoo parlour next door. He and Felix had been friends for a long time, sharing weekly troubles in their respective shops from time to time. "A client came in complaining about a tattoo. Changbin said that they didn't even do the tattoo, but the client insisted. It would have escalated quickly if Minho hadn't stepped in."
"Minho?" Jisung echoed; it was the first time he had heard this name.
"Yeah, the Ivory Needle's main artist. His work is amazing."
