When Alicia wakes up in the body of a minor character from *The Flower That Blooms for the Crown*, a historical romance novel she read in her original world, she finds herself living as Victoria Valenford, a side character with a sad story. She does...

Hello everyone!
We’ve finally reached the end of DFTOP, and I just want to take a moment to thank all of you for coming along on this journey with me. ❤️ I first came up with the idea for this book last year, but I waited until June 1st to publish it because I wanted to honour Pride Month. Wow… time really flies! I’m just so happy I was able to complete the entire book in under a year. ✨
So, why did I want to write this story in the first place? I’ve always wanted to create a GL reincarnation novel, because there are so few of them out there. I see more BL stories (which I also enjoy!), but GL options are rare, so I decided to make DFTOP—and I’m honestly so happy I did.
While writing, there were a few things I considered, especially about otome isekai stories in general. One thing that always bothered me was when the protagonist is a working-age adult who reincarnates into a child or someone much younger, then falls in love with someone who’s also a child.
Imagine being a 20-something-year-old soul inhabiting a child’s body—monologuing like an adult constantly, reminding the readers you’re actually older… Then you go on to act like a child and then fall in love with people way younger than your soul's age. It just always felt weird and uncomfortable to me.
I get it's a way of survival and making people not be suspicious of you, but I don't like it. I personally prefer stories where the main character time-travels to a particular point in time within their own body rather than inhabiting a younger body.
That’s why my MC in DFTOP is the same age as her transmigration body. I didn't want to feel like I was writing a felony.
Another thing I’ve thought a lot about is villainess redemption arcs. I’m all for characters growing and improving, but I don’t like it when they completely change who they are—turning into a totally different, docile person who can’t stand up for themselves. For example, a bold, sharp-tongued villainess suddenly becomes docile, overly tolerant, and unable to stand up for herself—it just feels sad to me. That’s why, even though Celeste becomes a good person, I kept her bold and sharp-tongued. She’s no longer rude or mean, but she can still stand her ground. I don’t know if anyone else feels the same way, but that was really important to me.
I also didn’t like how heroines are often portrayed as antagonists in these stories. Why can’t everyone just be friends 😞? Of course, everyone has their own version of the story they want to tell—but that’s just my take.
This was my first time writing a GL story, and I hope to improve on writing romance in the future. I mostly enjoy adventure stories, but I would love to write more GL content, and I hope you’ll continue to support me along the way.
As I mentioned before, I already have two new stories planned: one is another isekai reincarnation, and the other is a DFTOP AU. I’ve started working on both plots and will be uploading the first two chapters of each as teasers. I hope you’ll enjoy them and share your feedback with me! 🙇
Also, I’ve written some spicy oneshots for those interested. There’s a Vic x Celes x Eve scenario for anyone who was interested in all of them being a throuple. Honestly, I love throuples, where everyone loves each other! But for DFTOP, I planned it as a side character and villainess pairing, and I don’t think I could write a fully satisfying throuple romance. I can, however, write their spicy scenes if that’s what you’re looking for 😏. If you have any questions or requests, feel free to drop them, and I’ll do my best to deliver!
Thank you again for reading DFTOP and for supporting me. I love you all so much! ❤️
