The journey passed wasn't that long to Duke Merrow's estate. When they finally arrived, the estate was already buzzing with activity. Servants moved swiftly, greeting guests and guiding them toward the greenhouse garden where the brunch was being held.

Her footman stepped forward and opened the door with a slight bow. "My Lady".

Victoria took his hand lightly as he assisted her down. She smoothed her skirts and lifted her chin, her posture effortlessly regal as she climbed the stone steps of the mansion. A well-dressed butler greeted her at the door.

"Good day, my lady," he said with a respectful nod. "The guests are gathered in the greenhouse garden. This way, please."

Victoria followed him through the marble-floored halls, sunlight streaming in through arched windows. As they neared the garden, the sound of music and laughter grew louder, accompanied by the gentle clinking of glasses and the fragrance of fresh flowers.

The butler opened the door to the greenhouse, and Victoria stepped inside. The space was alive with colour—greenery, blooming orchids, and well-dressed nobles sipping from crystal flutes. A string quartet played softly in the background.

Lady Ria approached her with a sly smile.

"Lady Victoria", she said sweetly. "How lovely to see you again."

Victoria returned the smile with equal poise. "And you as well, Lady Ria."

Ria gave a light, graceful laugh. "I wasn't sure you'd come. But I'm so glad you did. I've been wanting to speak with you since the gala."

"As do I." Victoria said with a tight smile

"How gracious of you," Ria said, with a laugh. "Come right this way."

Victoria followed as Ria led the way through the vibrant greenhouse. The path wound between lush potted trees and manicured ornamental plants with sunlight spilling into the place.

"Everyone's been eager to meet you since the gala," Ria said over her shoulder. "You've grown quite the reputation, you know."

Victoria arched a brow. "Oh? I wasn't aware."

"Oh, absolutely. Stopping an attack in such a dramatic fashion?" Ria gave a soft laugh. "It was all anyone could talk about. I do wonder how you managed to think so quickly in that moment."

Victoria offered a polite smile, though inwardly she remained guarded. So far, Ria hadn't said anything openly offensive or acknowledged the mistake she made previously towards her.

'Such a snob.' Victoria thought

Eventually, they reached a long table shaded beneath hanging wisteria. Several noble ladies sat around it, chatting.

"Please, take a seat," Ria gestured to an empty seat. "While I go welcome our last guest." She left.

She moved to sit, only for someone to immediately slide into the seat beside her.

"Hello, Lady Victoria!" came the bright, unmistakable voice.

She blinked. "Lady Evelyn?"

Evelyn grinned. "We keep running into each other; it's almost fate! I suppose I should start expecting you everywhere I go now."

Victoria let out a small, awkward laugh.

"Lady Victoria", another voice called gently from across the table. A lady with warm brown eyes and copper-blonde hair smiled at her. "It's lovely to finally meet you. I'm Cassandra Belvard. I believe I was the one you rescued during the attack at the gala."
