Calm down, I'm warning you: this isn't the complete chapter, it's a preview. Yes, a 12,000-word preview ;-; I don't know how to write previews properly ;-; Well, this chapter is so you don't get annoyed that there isn't a complete chapter yet, especially since more than half of it is still to be finished. It's going to be longer than I expected, and seeing this preview you'll understand what I mean and why it's taking so long for the chapter to be ready. I hope you like it and at least have fun with this, Preview 1? I think you can call it that.
I woke up slowly, as if my body were trapped in a warm haze. I blinked a few times before actually processing that... ah, right... we were still in the dimensional dorm. It wasn't our real room, but with how comfortable it was, it almost felt like it.
I yawned, feeling my muscles complain slightly — nothing serious, just that "good soreness" that reminded me of the previous night. My face warmed on its own. Idiot... why am I blushing first thing in the morning? It's not like I don't know exactly why.
I stretched lazily, the sheets sliding over my bare skin. I sighed, a small smile escaping before I could stop it. I felt... light. Tired, but light. And honestly, it had been a while since I woke up like this.
I stood up slowly, without hurry, without hiding anything — after all, there was no one else in the room besides me. I walked to the dresser, pulled open the drawer, and grabbed the lace panties and black bra I had worn yesterday. I didn't bother blushing... at least not too much. I put them on slowly, adjusting the bra straps calmly while taking a deep breath.
Then I picked up the small pack of birth control pills and placed the pill of the day in my mouth. I swallowed it with a sip of water from the glass beside the bed, and only then did I notice the constant sound of the shower.
Ah. So he was already awake.
My lips curved instinctively. Of course Kiyotaka would be up before me. Even here, in a space outside real time, he still acted like himself.
I crossed my arms, leaned against the wall, and stayed there listening to the water fall. A part of me... considered going in.
For exactly three seconds.
Then I remembered my state, the lingering soreness in my muscles, and decided that the boy in there should relax on his own. I took a deep breath and waited.
When the noise finally stopped, steam slipped through the crack under the door and he came out, drying his hair with a towel. He wore only another towel around his waist, which made me avert my eyes instinctively — just a little. Not that I'd ever admit it.
"Good morning," he said with that calm expression that always seemed two steps ahead of any conversation.
"Hm." I replied, trying to hide that I was smiling. "You woke up early."
"You were sleeping deeply." He tilted his head. "I thought it was better not to wake you."
His tone was simple, direct... but there was a hidden gentleness there. The kind he never said out loud.
I stepped a little closer, fixing my hair.
"You seem pretty confident this early in the morning," I murmured.
"I wondered why you didn't come into the shower when you realized I was there," he said out of nowhere, as if it were just a casual observation.
I almost choked on air.
"W–what kind of question is that this early!?"
"A valid one," he replied, completely serious. "You stared at the door for thirty-two seconds."
