"He really is out there, isn't he?" Hermione asked rhetorically, looking out the window of the Gryffindor common room, seeing the rain splash on the window. Only Ron and Harry accompanied her, and they had just had a brief conversation with Sirius in the fireplace. "We've got to be able to defend ourselves. And if Umbridge refuses to teach us how, then we need someone who will."
Lightning flashed as Hermione turned to face the boys. "We need Y/n on board," Harry responded. "She knows more spells than me."
Hermione looked down, sighing, knowing he was right. Y/n seemed to have potions and defense spells down way better than even Harry.

Everyone was in Hogsmeade the next day, it was snowing, but no one cared. Y/n was hanging out with Draco and the other Slytherins, when a Griffondor boy, looking to be about second year, walked up to her. He gestured for her to let him whisper to her. She obliged curiously.
"Go to the empty building by the edge of the town," he whispered in her ear after she bent down to his level. "Come alone, let no one see you."
"Who's asking?" She asked curiously, could it be him? She thought, hopeful.
"Harry Potter," he whispered.
She grew a bit annoyed, "Ok," she sighed, the boy walked away. And the rest of the Slytherins looked at her confused. "My sister wants something," she shrugged, walking away.
No one was suspicious and went back to fooling around. She walked to the house she thought they were talking out, seeing a small bar with only 2 chairs, and an old man at it. He pointed to the door that led to a back room, and she slowly opened it, causing the murmurs behind it to silence. She went inside, seeing Hermione and Harry in the front, with a crowd of students from all houses in front of them.
"What the hell?" She asked. People in the crowed grew scared, thinking she was here to bust them.
"Calm down, everybody," Hermione said over everyone, "We invited her."
"What?" Y/n looked at the girl.
"Believe me, out of pure desperation," Hermione rolled her eyes. "Like I was saying," she cleared her throat, "we need a teacher. A proper teacher. One who's had real experience defending themselves against the Dark Arts."\
Y/n furrowed her eyebrows, looking at the girl confused, then at Harry. "Why," asked a boy.
"Why?" Repeated Ron, "Because You Know Who is back, you tosspot."
"So he says," the boy retorted.
"So Dumbledore says," Hermione replied.
"So Dumbledore says because he said," the same boy repeated. "Point is, where's the proof?"
Harry glanced at Y/n then at the ground, "If Potter could tell us more about how..." another boy spoke up, but hesitated, looking at Y/n, "Diggory..." he said slowly, "...got killed."
"I'm not gonna talk about Cedric," Harry looked up, "so if that's why you're here, you might as well clear out now." He stood up. "Come on, Hermione, let's go. They're just here because they think I'm some sort of freak." He muttered to the girl.
"Harry, wait," she whispered back.
"Is it true you can produce the patronus charm?" Luna asked.
"Yes," Hermione answered for Harry, "Y/n can too, I've seen it."
"Blimey Harry," Bem said, "I didn't know you could do that."
"A-and he killed a basilisk," Neville spoke up. "With a sword in Dumbledore's office."
"Third year, he fought about 100 dementors at once," Ron added.
"Wait, Y/n helped with that," Harry cut in. Y/n looked over at Harry, finally some credit, the girl thought to herself.
"And last year," Hermione said, more seriously, "he really did fight off you know who in the flesh."
"Wait," Harry interrupted again. "Look, it all sounds great when you say it like that, but the truth is, most of that was just luck. I didn't know what I was doing half the time, I nearly always had help," he glanced at Y/n.
"He's just being modest," Hermione said.
"No, Hermione, I'm not," Harry replied. He turned back to the crowd, "Facing this stuff in real life is not like school. In school, if you make a mistake you can just try again tomorrow. But out there... when you're a second from being murdered, or watching a friend die right before your eyes... you don't know what it's like."
There was a long pause of silence as everyone reflected on the boy's words. Harry sat down, followed by Hermione, "You're right Harry, we don't." She admitted. "That's why we need your help... because if we're going to have any chance of beating-" she stopped for second, taking a deep breath, "Voldemort..."
"He's really back?" The second year that had relayed the message to Y/n asked.
Harry nodded slowly, and everyone started to actually believe it. You could tell as the demeanor and facial expressions shifted. Hermione turned to Y/n, "That's why we need you too, Y/n..." Hermione stood up. "You're the... best witch I have ever seen, I admire you really," she admitted, she hated it but it was true. "I know you're like the other Slytherins..."
"How would you know?" She crossed her arms, "How can you trust me?"
"I know who your father is, I know that you have goodness in you," she replied. "So will you help?"
"Fine, I'll help..." she said reluctantly, "Only to teach, this doesn't mean that I'm a do-gooder or anything. Only for the sake of filling your education," she clarified, not wanting to seem weak for being nice.
Hermione and Harry put a sign up sheet on the table as the kids started to sign their names. Y/n did not sign her name, knowing that would be incriminating.
Harry, the Weasleys, Hermione, Neville, Y/n, and Maria were walking down the bridge back to Hogwarts. "The shrieking shack?" Ginny suggested as a meeting spot.
"It's too small."
"Forbiddin Forrest," Hermione suggested.
"Not bloody likely," Ron replied.
"Harry, what happens if Umbridge does find out?" Ginny asked.
"Who cares?" Replied Hermione.
Y/n looked at the girl confused, "What?"
"I mean," She laughed, "it's sort of exciting, isn't it? Breaking the rules."
"Who are you and what have you done with Hermione Granger?" Ron asked.
"Anyway," Hermione continued, still smiling a little, "at least we know one positive thing that came from today."
"What's that?" Harry asked.
"Cho couldn't take her eyes off you, could she?" Hermione smirked at the boy. Harry began to smile, and Y/n raised an eyebrow.
