Y/n walked with Remus to the train. He insisted on bringing her himself. They walked silently, occasionally striking up small talk. They make it to the train, and they exchange an awkward hug.
"I'll, uh, see you over break," Remus said, patting her shoulder.
"Ok," she gave a thumbs up and boarded the train. "God that was awkward." She sighed.
She found Draco's cart, and she went and sat down next to him. "Draco," she greeted, tucking her luggage under the seat.
"Y/n," he replied. She noticed the lack of hostility, differing from last year.
"I see you grew up a bit," she replied, smirking.
"Yeah, well, I'm not that immature anymore," He crossed his arms.
"Mhm," she raised an eyebrow. "Ok then." A group of girls boarded the train and gave Y/n a sympathetic look, to which she looked at Draco, "Why do I keep getting these odd looks?" She asked, baffled.
"You still don't remember?" Draco raised an eyebrow. "Did you obliviate yourself?"
"What do you mean? What happened?" She tilted her head.
"Cedric Diggory," He told her, "You guys went to the ball together last year," he shrugged.
"I did?" She looks down at her lap, trying to remember. "Huh..."
"Yeah you did." Draco said.
"Well, I can't remember so I guess it wasn't that serious."
Draco shrugged in response, and they were joined by a few other Slytherins in the cart. On the way to Hogwarts, Y/n couldn't help but think about Tom. Is he going to come back for me, or am I just nothing to him? She thought, looking out the window as the others chatted away.

They arrived at the Hogwarts station, the rest of the Slytherins get out of the cart, but Y/n dropped a book under the seat, causing her to stay back to find it. She walked off the platform to see Neville, then Ron, Harry, and Hermione waiting for the last cart. She caught up to them, annoyed that she had to take it with them. The trio stopped, watching the kart with some Ravenclaw girls leave them behind, and Neville caught up to them.
"Hi guys," he said, also watching the carriage.
"Hey, Neville," the three said in response.
"Jesus," Y/n muttered, stopping on the other side of Neville.
"H-hi, Y/n," Neville looked down at the girl.
"Hey, Neville," she replied politely.
Another cart pulled up, and Harry and Y/n turned to see a horse-looking creature, though only the bones and rotten looking flesh.
"What is it?" Harry said, looking up at it with wide eyes.
"No idea," Y/n replied as the others turned around.
"What's what?" Ron asked, not seeing anything.
"That," Y/n pointed at it.
"Pulling the carriage," Harry added.
"Nothing is pulling the carriage, guys," Hermione replied. "It's pulling itself like always."
Harry started to slowly walk to the part where you enter, looking at the curious creature as he walked by. Y/n followed too, confused.
"You're not going mad," A girl said, she was in the carriage already. "I can see them too."
Y/n looks up at her, "Luna?" She tilts her head.
"You're just as sane as I am."
Everyone took a seat in the carriage. Ron was next to Luna, with Y/n on her other side. While Harry sat across from Luna, with Neville across from Y/n and Ron across from Hermione.
"Everyone, this is Luny Love-" Hermione corrected herself quickly, "Luna Lovegood," she looked down awkwardly.
Y/n smirked, "What an interesting necklace," she said to Luna as Hermione looked terrified for saying something so rude.
"It's a charm actually," Luna grasped her necklace, smiling, "Keeps away the nargles," she leaned toward Neville. The boy looked very uncomfortable, holding his plant as he scrunched to the back of his seat. "I hope there's putting," Luna continued.
The carriage finally began to move. Luna spoke to Y/n now, "I am sorry for your loss, Ms. Y/n," she said, respectfully.
"Uh, huh? Thanks?" She raised an eyebrow, while everyone looked confused that she was confused.
"Cedri-" Hermione was going to remind the girl, but Harry elbowed her, whispering to her secretly.
"Voldemort erased her memory," He whispered to her.
"What?" Hermione's eyes went wide.
"She doesn't remember Cedric at all," He said, then Hermione whispered to Ron, relaying the information.
They eventually got into the Great Hall. After about 10 minutes, the message that Y/n couldn't remember Cedric had spread, people speculating that she either never cared for him, or that she cared so much she erased her own memory. Nobody believed that Voldemort was the one to have done it.
Dumbledore stood at the podium to announce like he does every year, "Good evening, children." Everyone silenced, looking to the headmaster, "Now, we have 2 changes in staffing this year. We're pleased to welcome back Professor Grubbly-Plank, who'll be taking care of magical creatures while Professor Hagrid is on temporary leave."
Y/n snorted and Draco smirked, "Good." He whispered to her, they high fived triumphantly.
"We also wish welcome to our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Dolores Umbridge. And I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing the Professor luck. Now, as usual, our caretaker, Mr. Filch has asked me-"
Dolores Umbridge cleared her throat, interrupting the professor. He looked over at her, and she got up, walking her portly body towards the front.
"Thank you, headmaster," She said, standing at the front, "for those kind words of welcome." She stepped in front of Dumbledore and the podium, "And how lovely to see all your bright, happy faces smiling up at me."
Y/n rolled her eyes, "Self-centered much?"
"I'm sure we're all going to be very good friends." She paused, then continued, "The Ministry of Magic has always considered the education of young wizards and witches to be of vital importance. Although each headmaster has brought something new to this historical school," she started pacing the stage, as if it was a private lecture. She nodded to Dumbledore, and he nodded back, "...progress for the sake of progress must be discouraged. Let us preserve what must be preserved, perfect what can be perfected and prune practices that ought to be prohibited."
"She's speaking in riddles now," Y/n commented, rolling her eyes.
Umbridge giggled obnoxiously, walking back to her seat. Dumbledore hid his confusion by clapping for her.
"Thank you, Professor Umbridge," he said as the students clapped too. He finished his announcements, and the students were sent to bed.
