Omniscient.

"Veli?" Her voice cracked, barely above a whisper.

She lowered the gun as her eyes focused through the dark. He was slumped in the bushes just a few feet away. The sight made her stomach drop. She stumbled forward, barefoot on the cool concrete, the night air cutting through as she reached him.

"Veli!" She said again, louder this time with panic catching up. She dropped to her knees beside him, the gun clattering to the ground. There was a paleness to his skin complexion, dried blood streaked on his face as his shirt was soaked dark where the gunshot wound was.

"Britt..." He barely made out, his breath catching as his eyes struggled to find her.

She pressed her hand to his chest, feeling the weak thump of his heartbeat under her palm. "Oh my God." She whispered, tears already blurring her vision. "Veli, look at me. Can you hear me?"

He blinked, sluggish and unfocused. "Had to... get here."

She looked around the backyard, seeing nothing. Her hands shook as she looped his arm over her shoulder and pushed herself up, dragging his weight with every ounce of strength she had. He groaned lowly, and she hated the sound of it. The sound of him being hurt.

"I got you." She said, breathless. "Come on. Just lean on me."

The walk from outside to the couch inside was one of the worst seconds of her life. By the time she lowered him onto the couch, her arms burned. Veli wasn't light, especially compared to her.

"Okay. Okay." She murmured, pressing her shaky hands against the wound. "You're okay. Just stay with me, Veli."

"Na.. Nakai." He whispered, nearly inaudible.

"W–What?" She asked softly, her voice breaking.

Brittany moved, searching for her phone. Her hand lifted slightly, and Veli's head lowered to the side.

"No, no, no! Don't you do that!" She shouted as tears rolled down her cheek. She held him as she reached for her phone, fingers trembling. She scrolled past missed calls until she found Romeo's name.

The second he answered, she didn't wait for a greeting. "It's Veli. H–He's been shot. He's alive but bleeding bad."

"He at the house?"

"Y–Yes. Please, get here. I can't..." She cried.

"Don't move him. I'm on the way."

He hung up before she could say anything else. She dropped the phone on the coffee table and turned back to Veli, pressing both hands to his chest as she cried silently.
