Jake hated to admit this—but he was enjoying it.

The gentle light dripping into the room from the window, a quiet sound of the dishwasher down stairs and most importantly—Hailey curled up against him, head resting carefully on Jakes shoulder.

It was nothing special, but it displayed a clear bond that could only been created after knowing someone so deeply for so long. A kind of comfort that only came from resting with someone you cared for so deeply. Hailey was absently scrolling on Pinterest, quietly laughing at random memes while Jake stared at the roof while trying to control his breathing.

It was peaceful. Nice, perfect almost. Maybe too nice.

Jake shifted quietly. "You're crushing my arm."

"No..no I'm not.." Hailey hummed.

"Yes you are, move." Jake frowned.

"Nope." Hailey said not looking up.

Jake rolled his eyes. Despite this, he made no effort to move himself. Hailey knew he wouldn't, evident in the way Hailey grinned softly while snuggling up closer, creating an even heavier weight on Jakes arm.

"Unbelievable.." Jake muttered, but his voices lacked any real annoyance. Hailey simply hummed quietly.

The pair both fell into silence again, Jake finding Haileys weight on his arm abnormally comforting. Jake had always hated people touching him, although Hailey seemed to be an exception, her presence always being comforting rather annoying. Hailey was warm, steady and calm, all what Jake needed to bring him comfort on rather tough days.

Jake sighed, his voice coming out shaky.

"You okay?" Hailey asked so quiet it almost sounded like a whisper.

Jake blinked. "Huh?"

"Sorry—I donno, you just seem in your head." Hailey concluded.

Jake hesitated, normally he wasn't the one to open up, his normal instinct was to brush it off, play it as a joke but with Hailey it felt different. It felt easier.

"I'm okay.." Jake said eventually. A beat passed. "This is..it's nice." He added, looking away quickly.

Hailey smiled gently, "Yeah it is."

Jake didn't say anything else, he didn't need to. Instead he sighed a sigh of relief, letting himself enjoy the comfort rather than fight it. Even letting himself lean into Hailey slightly. Maybe later he could complain about it, but for now..it was close to perfect.

Hailey didn't say anything when jake leaned in just a little more. She simply shifted slightly, adjusting herself so Jake could rest more comfortably against her. It wasn't a big deal, only a tiny moment, hardly even noticeable. But it meant everything, for Jake and for Hailey.

Jake let out a soft breath, barely audible over the quiet noise from downstairs. Haileys parents knew Jake was over but didn't care for it. They knew Jake cared for Hailey.

"You're getting comfortable." Hailey teased as she giggled.

Jake couldn't deny her giggle was cute, he huffed, annoyed or maybe embarrassed. "Shut up."

"You so are though." Hailey grinned

"Am not."

"You're practically cuddling me." Hailey pointed out.
