You did not notice her standing there
Nor how much she cared
She was a shadow to you
Always there everywhere you turn
Following, waiting to be recognized
She never gave up hope
She never let you down
Yet you never thanked her
She was just another person
One who was there just because
She was never worth your time
And she never would be
Over time you caused her pain
She cried night and day because of you
She eventually gave up trying to please you
But you never noticed
She eventually gave up hope
But you never cared
She eventually stopped doing anything and everything
She did not eat
She did not sleep
She slowly wasted away
Until one day
It all stopped and she was no more
The last word on her breath was your name
