Fluff

Tw: None

The lodge was quiet, most of the other survivors had already headed back to their personal cabins for the night, leaving the communal space mostly empty. You could hear Elliot pottering around in the kitchen as you sat on the lounge in front of the fire, staring at the flickering flames. It was warm, the fire filling the space with a comfortable warmth opposed to the harsh conditions that the rest of the realm consisted of.

"Ahhh, Just the person that I wanted to see," Turning around, you looked behind you, spotting Chance who had just made his way into the lodge. Their fedora was slightly askew, glasses sitting on top. You shuffled so that you were facing him, watching as he walked over and stood in front of you.

"Well hello Chance, and may I ask why you wanted to see me?" The fire crackled, a few embers landing on the floor in front of it.

"Well, I was wondering if you were up for a game. We could play Uno or Poker, up to you princess," Chance offered, pulling some cards out of the pocket of his suit jacket. Your face heated up at the nickname, but you quickly calmed yourself down, shrugging. Were you good at Uno? Not really. Did you even know how to play Poker properly? Not at all. But what else were you going to do? Not like there were many ways to pass the time in between the rounds.

"Sure I guess. Let's play... Uno. That will do," Chance nodded, switching the deck of cards for a set of Uno. Standing up, you followed him out to one of the larger tables that sat in the lodge. As you approached, Chance pulled out a chair, beckoning you to sit down. You obliged, carefully sliding into the wooden chair.

He pushed you in before making his way around to the other side of the table. Once you were both seated, Chance placed the deck of Uno cards on the table, offering it to you.

"You want me to shuffle? You're the casino owner. I'll probably drop them," Chance chuckled, slipping their shades back on.

"Hey, I don't want to be accused of cheating, pal. I'm an honest man,"

You sighed, taking the deck and shuffling it to the best of your ability. Chance watched as you attempted to shuffle the Uno cards, finding the way you slightly struggled hilarious.

"Hey, how about we place a bet?" You placed the now somewhat shuffled deck on the table and looked up at the gambler.

"A bet. Really? What is it this time?"

Chance liked to place bets with you, knowing that it was an easy way to get you to spend time with them or to do things for them. You knew that he was most likely to win in this game, but you decided to hear him out, knowing that none of the bets had been that outrageous before.

"So, if I win, you have to give me all your attention for the rest of the night. If you win I'll... I dunno, for whatever you want me to," Chance offered, hands clasped on the table in front of him. You knew that you were going to be stuck with them, even if you didn't accept the bet, so you reluctantly agreed, glad that it wasn't anything to... Out there.

Chance handed out the cards, handing each of you a pile of seven cards before placing the rest of the deck in the middle for drawing the cards. As Chance was the dealer, you went first, placing down a blue card. Chance followed, place a blue card down as well. The two of you played normally, neither of you saying much apart from the odd comment about the others moves.

Eventually, you got down to your last card while Chance still had two left in his hand.

"Uno," You held up your last card, not showing Chance what it was. You thought you had a chance at beating them, but as soon as they smirked, you knew it was over.
