"Breaking rules around here has consequences," Decon warned, giving Penny a pointed look. "You're no longer in control of your fate."

The trip to Oregon was a refreshing change for Bilal and Victoria. The couple took a much-needed break from their devices and decided to do some exploring. They visited local farmers' markets, sampling fresh produce and engaging with the vibrant community. Bilal and Victoria also took a scenic drive along the Oregon coast, appreciating the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. They dined at quaint local restaurants in the evenings, savoring the region's unique flavors.
Later in the week, Bilal met with Dixon. Victoria decided to tag along. She wanted to sit in and listen to the debriefing. The meeting proceeded smoothly, with Dixon presenting details about the new distillery, paperwork, and plans for expansion and partnership with local restaurants, distributors, and bars. Bilal, however, appeared slightly agitated as Victoria frequently attempted to take over the conversation with her suggestions.
Victoria's persistent interjections seemed to irk Bilal. He didn't want to call her out, but informed her of his annoyance by making subtle gestures. Bilal tightened his jaw several times, furrowed his eyebrows, and momentarily paused in some of his responses. It was evident that he preferred a more controlled and focused conversation.
Before leaving Oregon, Bilal and Victoria decided to inspect the distillery. It was one of Greg's requests; he was on a business trip in Nigeria and wouldn't return until the following week.
The vineyard at the distillery was clean and neat. A sprawling expanse of greenery vines stretched out beneath the Oregon sun. Neat rows of grapevines, laden with plump and juicy grapes, created a beautiful scene. Surrounded by rolling hills and scenic countryside, the vineyard provided a serene setting. Tall, slender cypress trees lined the edges of the vineyard, adding a touch of elegance to the landscape.
They savored a wine-tasting experience, delighting in the diverse flavors of locally crafted wines. Predictably, Victoria initiated a conversation about the potential future ventures for the vineyard. Victoria voiced her ideas for possible improvements to enhance the business. Bilal, however, remained mostly silent on her thoughts. He acknowledged the merit of the suggestions; his mind was preoccupied with other matters.
Following the inspection, the couple boarded the private jet. Bilal couldn't spare another day in Oregon—responsibilities in Manhattan demanded his attention. Decon called to inform him that they had located Penelope, and now she was residing in the mansion, awaiting his instructions.
Victoria continued to express her delight about the vineyard experience, relishing the flavors of the wines they had sampled. However, she couldn't help but notice Bilal's reserved demeanor. He sat there with his eyes fixated on the same manila folder she discovered in his duffel bag. Curiosity getting the better of her, she addressed the elephant in the room.
"Is something bothering you?" Victoria inquired, unable to ignore the tension in the air.
Bilal sharpened his gaze as he eyed Victoria. The man closed the manila folder and said, "I need you to understand something. In my world, control and respect are paramount. When I'm in a meeting, it's my domain. You cannot take over, no matter how well-intentioned you are."
Victoria bit her lip as she felt every word he spat at her. "I know the business. I had to say something because Dixon wasn't handling it correctly."
"My father and I have been working with Dixon for years. He knows what he is doing." Bilal grabbed his water and took a few sips before adding, "I'm surprised you allowed those words to slip past your lips. You've been around for eight years. You should know how he operates."
