The soft light of morning filtered through Kenji's bedroom curtains, the sea breeze carrying a faint chill into the room. Eden sat at the vanity in her silk robe, brushing through her hair, while Kenji adjusted his tie in the mirror across the room.
He glanced at her reflection, his tone casual but weighted with intention.
"You know," he began, "you should start spending more nights here. Only if you want to, of course. I wouldn't mind having you around more—this house would feel less like a museum and more like home."
Eden smiled faintly, setting down her brush. "You already spoil me when I'm here, Kenji. I don't want to get to wrapped up in.... the perks."
He crossed the room, adjusting his cufflinks as he spoke. "That's comfort. You don't have to hesitate about using what's here—the chefs, the staff, the cars, the security. They're for you, too. Not just me." He touched her waist lightly, grounding his words with warmth. "If its mines, its yours." He planted a kiss on her forehead as he continued to get dressed.
Eden reached for his hand and gave it a squeeze. "I'm appreciative, truly. And... I'll take you up on more nights here. But let me ease into it. I'll let you know when I need you—or them."
His eyes softened. "Good." He bent down and kissed her temple, then shifted into business. "Speaking of what's ahead, what about the wedding planner you mentioned? The one... Gina?"
Eden flipped open her notebook, where she had jotted names and figures. "Yes, Gina Huyong. She's considered the best. Her fees are seventy-five thousand, U.S. dollars."
Kenji didn't flinch. Instead, he walked to his dresser, retrieved a sleek black card, and handed it to her. "Hire her. And use this—for planning, and anything you need."
Eden blinked at the card in her hand. "Kenji... this is a lot. I can't just—"
He leaned down, kissing her gently but firmly, cutting her words short. "Get comfortable with being served and spoiled, Eden. You don't need to apologize for accepting what's freely yours now. If life hands you perks, take them. You deserve it."
Before she could respond, her phone buzzed. A text lit up the screen:
Riston: Morning, Eden. Running late for the meeting today—apologies. Will be there as quickly as I can.
Kenji raised a brow, his tie now perfectly aligned. "Riston? Who's that?"
Eden slid her phone aside and picked up her blazer. "Our new regional sales manager. The last one quit rather dramatically. I had to make a quick hire to cover his division."
Kenji's expression lingered for a moment—thoughtful, curious—but he only nodded. "Mm. I see. Well, if he's working under you, I trust you've made the right call."
She smiled, slipping her arms into her blazer. "I did. Now let's both get to work before I'm the one who's late."
Kenji kissed her once more, lingering just long enough to make her heart race, before they stepped into the day—two worlds, slowly learning how to become one.
Eden quietly slide her ring into her purse before heading out to the car.
