Calixta sat at her usual corner table in the cozy café, the warm scent of freshly brewed coffee wrapping around her like a soft blanket. Her laptop rested open in front of her, pages of notes scattered across the table. She was immersed in her writing, fingers tapping lightly on the keys, when a movement in the corner of her eye caught her attention.

And then she saw him. Lucien Kael.

Her breath caught, and her hand froze mid-gesture. The man walking toward the counter, the tilt of his jaw, the gentle curve of his lips, even the way his hair fell, was uncannily familiar. Memories of Luminous surged unbidden: the gentle laughter, the whispered words, the warmth that had once filled her imagination.

For a moment, the bustling café faded around her. Her heart raced, a fluttering mix of nostalgia and disbelief. No... it can't be... him, she whispered inwardly.

Lucien Kael approached the counter, ordered a coffee, and glanced around. Their eyes met, and for a heartbeat, the world seemed to stop. His gaze carried something gentle and curious, a quiet recognition that made Calixta's chest tighten.

He smiled lightly and stepped toward her table.

"Do you... remember me?" His voice was soft, familiar, like a whisper from a dream.

Her breath caught. Her mind raced, heart leaping.

He leaned slightly closer, a small, courteous smile tugging at his lips.

"I'm Lucien Kael," he finished gently. Then, noticing her expression, he added softly, "I was at your fan-signing event the other day. I'm one of your fans."

Calixta blinked, a mix of relief, curiosity, and bittersweet disappointment washing over her. Is it not really him?

They exchanged polite small talk, comments about the café, the weather, her novel, and the fan-signing event. Yet, beneath the casual conversation, Calixta sensed a subtle spark: a warmth in his glance, the faint way he listened intently to her words, the ease with which he made her smile. Something about him lingered, a quiet curiosity that made her pulse quicken ever so slightly.

"I didn't expect to run into a fan here," she said softly, a small smile tugging at her lips.

"I like to frequent cozy spots," Lucien replied, his voice calm but carrying a gentle attentiveness. "And I enjoy seeing the people behind the stories I love."

Calixta felt a flutter in her chest. There was no Luminous magic here, no fantasy, but there was life, curiosity, and a subtle, growing connection.

As Lucien Kael finished his coffee and rose to leave, he offered a small, courteous nod.

"It was really nice meeting you," he said softly.

"You too," she replied, her voice warm but steady, feeling a strange blend of nostalgia and anticipation.

He walked away, leaving her with a fluttering heart and a reflective smile. Calixta returned to her laptop, her fingers moving over the keys once more.

She realized something profound: the past could echo in the present, memories could linger, and reminders could surprise her—but she was still here, still grounded, still moving forward.

And in that quiet café, surrounded by the hum of life around her, Calixta felt a delicate mix of nostalgia, curiosity, and hope, knowing that her heart had room for the past, the present, and perhaps, someone new.
