Power Driven

I Remember

Then I remembered. I went to a lab, for an excursion yesterday. The lab was trying to create a cure for cancer, but must have got it wrong for the hundredth time. I knew about the lab before we went there. My father works their, he is the lead scientist in the lab. I ran downstairs, in a rush, realising I had to get to school. My mother was down their. "Liam, why aren't you changed." I looked down and saw I was in my pjs, "Shit." My mother heard me swear, and scolded at me, "Get to your room, change into your uniform and watch your language." I looked at her, and went back up to my room.

I remember yesterday, when we were at the lab, a vile split on me. The vile, what was in it. I didn't tell anyone but, it cut me, and the wound healed in a matter of minutes without any plaster. The vile gave me the power. I need to go back there but I can't leave school, I'm meant to be a 'good kid' or as the 'cool kids' call me and my friends, 'Nerds'. We are the smartest in our year so it's understandable, but little do they know, most of us are black belts in some type of self defence, and have been since we were 12. Sarah, is my girlfriend but, yeh I'm not sure if she likes me that much anymore, she is starting to like one of the 'cool kids', Declan. So when I come to school today and beat him at a race it will be great.

I got into my uniform, and continued to love my power. It was buzzing again and I could sense more. I heard my older brother Jackson sneak into my room, and could tell he was going to test how good my reflexes are by throwing a shoes at me, again. He threw the shoe, I turned around and everything felt like it was going in slow motion, I could tell the power was getting stronger. I grabbed the shoe as it was flying at my face. It felt like at least 10 seconds for me, but I knew it was only 2 seconds. Jackson fell backward, surprised how fast I turned around, I just smiled at him. He ran out of my room, in fear. I liked that, and I could tell the power or whatever it was liked it as well. The power likes the misfortune of others, just like me.
