Back at the estate, Elise carefully opened the front door, cautious to not make a creak or any other noise of the sort. When she was certain no one was near, Elise signalled for Camille to enter, where they both quietly tip toed on the marble floor. Slowly, they made it down each hallway, becoming quieter around each corner. Finally, turning into the last hallway, the pair shared a look of victory as they approached the door to Camille's chambers. In the quietest way possible, they ran over to the door, pulling it open and then slamming it before anyone could follow them in. Their faces were planted against the wood of the door, breathing heavily at the relief of making back to the room undiscovered. It was because of this amazing feeling, that they were truly disappointed when they heard someone clear their throat.

"Madame." His voice echoed throughout what they thought was the empty room.

"Etienne, how funny to see you here. Elise and I were just going for a stroll in the gardens." Camille tried her best to stay calm but also seem convincing.

"Do not even try, my lady, I am very aware of your recent adventure." The last word seemed very thought out, very planned.

"Please do not tell the Comte. I simply needed to attend one meeting to hear what they had to say." He never expected anything different from Camille, he always knew her as curious, however, he always hoped she would not be so stupid as to attend a meeting.

He released a small sigh, deciding not to push the matter too much, glad the only person who discovered her was himself. "I shall not speak a word of it to the Comte, my Lady, but I do hope you be more careful."

Perhaps Etienne and Elise treated Camille better than she should. Perhaps by always helping and saving her from detection she would not be equipped to properly respond if she encountered real danger.

"Oh, thank you, Etienne, thank you." Like she did earlier with Elise, she flung her arms around Etienne, engulfing him in a warm and thankful hug. The moment was broken by Elise speaking up.

"My Lady, the day is begging to fade, you should prepare for rest." She released her hold on Etienne and turned her attention back to her maid.

"You are right, of course. Good night, Etienne." And with that, he bowed his head and took his exit, only hoping the lady would listen to his words and not do anything she would later regret. But the strange similarity and terrifying trait between Camille and her father, neither one of them felt regret, whether that be good, or bad.
