Myra
The drive back had been wordless, but his silence was not mercy—it was a noose tightening. Every red light, every turn, I could feel it coiling, waiting.
I know what I did but now the anger radiating from him, made me feel like he is going to literally kill me.
By the time we reached the mansion, my wrist was sore from his grip. He didn't let go, not even as we climbed the steps.
Marcus yanked me straight into his room and slammed the door so hard the frames on the wall rattled. I stumbled back against the dresser, my pulse hammering.
He took off his suit jacket, loosened his tie unbuttoned the cuff and rolled his sleeves. Each action was taking the life out of me. I did this deliberately. He was pushing me, toying with me and I pushed him. But the reality is that I am petrified of his anger right now. I pushed his buttons....maybe too much.
"Ma-Marcus-" he backhanded me before I could say. I fell on the floor with the impact. My skin break due to his ring, my hand went on the cheek he slapped. He never slapped me after we grew up. He never hit me like this since he returned.
"Marcus?" My voice was barely a whisper. He fisted my hair and hauled me up
"You shouldn't have done this Myra. You think you can humiliate me?" His voice cracked like a whip. He paced once, then turned and swept the glass off the nightstand, shattering it against the floor. The sharp sound made me flinch, shards scattering like sparks. My hands went to cover my ears instinctively.
"I told you no, Myra. No. And what did you do?" His hand lashed out, grabbing the chair by the desk and slamming it against the wall. The crack of wood against plaster rang in my ears. It was not just my hands that were trembling right now. He wasn't shouting now—he was snarling, like each word had claws. "You ignored me. You defied me. You let that boy touch what's mine."
"Marcus, it wasn't—" he slapped me again.
Don't," he barked, slamming his palm against the dresser beside my head. The impact rattled through me, close enough that splinters pricked my cheek. His body boxed me in, his fury scorching.
"I told you to never disobey me. I warned you to never fucking disobey me" he said unbuckling his belt.
"No Marcus." I said shifting backwards. "You promised me" I said trying to stop him with my retreating steps and extended hand
"I promised you I won't. But if you defy me I will not stop. You promised to never disobey me" he said lashing the belt. It landed on my arm making me scream.
"You disboyed me again and again. And I ignored it. But today you shouldn't have done this Myra." He barked raising the belt again. I winced as the welts raised on another arm. My feet was trembling and so was my hand.
"You belong to me, Myra. When I say no, it means no. When I call, you answer. When I tell you to stay, you fucking stay." His grip found my jaw, rough, forcing my eyes up to meet his. His thumb dug into my chin until it hurt. He dragged me in the middle of the room for more space.
Tears stung my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. "I just wanted... to breathe."
He stared at me like I'd just confessed the gravest sin. Slowly, he leaned down, his forehead pressing hard against mine, his breath hot with rage. His hand landed on my cheek again. My hair shielded my face and his belt raised landing another welt on my waist.
"Then breathe here. With me. Not with him. Not with anyone else. How dare you ignore my calls for Cho?" He blasted with another lash.
"Marcus please stop" I said as I fell on the floor.
