Jinx finally gained a little mobility back. She still used her crutches, but not as often, which helped.
"Hey birthday girl," Ekko called from the doorway of their bedroom, holding a bouquet of flowers and a card.
"Awh, sweetie, you didn't have to do this," Jinx sat up, taking the flowers and card. Right as she started to open the card, Isha appeared, holding a small gift bag.
"Hi Isha Pish," Jinx said, Isha crawling into the bed to lay her head on Jinx's shoulder.
"Is this for me?" She asked, Isha handing her the bag. Isha nodded enthusiastically, and motioned for Jinx to open it. When she did, tears formed that threatened to spill.
"Isha Pisha.. this is so sweet, thank you," Jinx hugged her, and kissed her hair. The bag had a bracelet that said 'mama' in blocky letters, and a drawing of her, Jinx, and Ekko all holding hands. Ekko was now on the bed too, sandwiching Isha between them.
"I know I personally can't top that, but I do have reservations for the Italian place downtown," Ekko said, eyes flicking from Isha, then to Jinx.
"The one we had our first date at?" Jinx's head snapped up, looking at the goofy grin on Ekko's face.
"Yep, that one," he kissed her nose, and scooped up Isha.
"Alright, Pisha. Whatda say we make mommy some waffles for breakfast?" he asked, earning a happy squeal from his daughter.
............
"How does this look, Pish?" Jinx asked, spinning around in a short, flowy pink dress.
Not that one Isha signed, shaking her head. She's trying to make sure her mama doesn't look completely stupid tonight.
"Well Bunny, I'm running out of options," Jinx sighed, putting her hand on her hip. Isha suddenly got up, rummaging through her closet, and pulled out a strapless, red dress, with a short flowy skirt.
"This one?" Jinx questioned, taking the dress from her daughter.
"Taryn glitter corset lace-up skater dress," Jinx read off the tag.
"I remember buying this. I was gonna wear it to Vi's bachelorette party, but then you got sick so I ended up not going," Jinx remembered, looking down at Isha, who was now grinning sheepishly.
"Nah, don't feel bad, Bunny. I didn't really wanna go anyways," she giggled.
"Alright, this dress it is. Now help me find some shoes to match."
Isha happily complied, following Jinx to the closet, where all her shoes lined up.
"Knock yourself out, Miss Stylish," Jinx gestured.
Isha couldn't contain her excitement, and started rummaging through the shoes.
............
Isha ended up picking out a pair of black YSL heels after much debate. Isha watched mesmerized as her mom got ready, wanting to do the exact same.
"Alright, what do we think?" Jinx asked, hands on her hips.
So beautiful mama Isha squealed, hugging her mom's legs.
"Thank you baby. Now, you be good for Vi tonight, 'kay? No funny business." Isha grunted, rolling her eyes, but nodded. She then ran out to her room, and grabbed her bunny lovie.
"Bonnie needs to be good too, Pish. Make sure she doesn't eat all the carrots." That made Isha laugh, and hug her lovie closer.
Ekko studied the ring, imagining how it would look on Jinx's finger, sparkling when it hit the sunlight. He had told Vi and Cait about his surprise, which they thought was perfect. Vi offered to take Isha for the night, giving them more time to themselves. Ekko heard knocking.
"Pow! Vi's here," he called, answering the door.
"Hey, Little Man," Vi said, stepping into the apartment. She glanced at Ekko, looking nervous im his button-up and jeans.
"Hey," He said back, glancing towards the hallway.
"Where's the lady of the hour?" She questioned, as Isha ran over and hugged Vi.
"Hey Little Dude!" Vi said, spinning Isha around and hugging her tight. "You ready for the best aunt night ever?" She asked, putting Isha down. She nodded excitedly, holding up her pink bag.
"Sleepover bag?" Vi asked, taking it from Isha, who nodded and smiled.
"Hey! There's the birthday girl," Vi called, Jinx standing in the hallway. Ekko forgot how to breath for a second.
"Pisha picked it out," Jinx said, twirling.
"You look gorgeous," Vi said, helping Ekko out. "Well, don't let me bother, you got everything Ish?" She nodded, holding her bunny and iPad.
"Alrighty then, say bye to mommy and daddy," Vi said.
Isha waved, and hugged them.
"Be good, Pisha. I'm serious," Jinx said. Isha nodded and dismissed her. Ekko just laughed.
"Bye, Isha girl."
