I had a lot to do that night.
First order of business is the demon the kid mentioned.
He said it was near Komamoto Elementary, near the bridge. That's quite close, so I made it priority.
I clocked out that evening, and simply walked out.
As I neared the security gate, the officer in charge that day came up to me with worry in his eyes, justifiably so.
"Ma'am, what are you doing walking out by yourself at night? Where's your car?" He said.
"I'm going home obviously" I said with enough confidence to almost knock him over. "Also, I didn't bring my car. I got here by jogging."
"H-Huh? But it's not safe." He said with even more worry. "At least call a cab, or something."
I continued walking, eventually passing through the gate. "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing." I said with a smile.
I really did knew though.
"Besides," I continued. "I'm just going somewhere nearby. I'll call a taxi after I'm done."
"... O-okay then?" He said defeated.
I gave him a final bow before walking out the gate. My destination, Komamoto Elementary.
The evening streets were, as expected, teeming with demons. They're trying so hard to harm me, died before getting within a meter from me. I was curious how strong I could get from doing this. Maybe I could even become some kind of god. Hmm. Sounds ridiculous.
As I got closer to the school, there were less and less demons roaming the streets. And after I arrived, there were none left. This was against my previous conjecture about how schools and other social places tend to be a gathering place for demons. So either there's something unique with this school in particular, or something else had been eating them up. I prepared for the latter.
I walked around the school's street, eventually reaching the back. That's when I found it.
Whoa.
A demon. A massive one. Easily the size of the entire school building. Its eyes were closed for now. It had way too many arms, and interestingly, no legs. This demon may have gotten too big that it'd lost its own mobility. It also reeked of blood and rotten flesh.
How many have you consumed?
I took a step closer, and it jolted awake. Its eyes opening in synchronization. All looking at me. I stared back with a smile. It growled so loudly it could've burst someone's eardrums.
Tendrils, no, tentacles with easily the thickness of a person zoomed towards me. I channeled my power and swung my hand, parrying the incoming attacks. The tentacles were easily sliced in half upon reaching me. The blow became more relentless. I started moving. My body felt very light. Evading its strikes were easy. At one point, I jumped to dodge. Upon landing, I suddenly lost my balance. My high heels had snapped. "Oh man, that's 15000 yen down the drain." I sighed and took them off. The demon apparently thought I'd forgotten about it, and attacked thinking I'd dropped my guard. "I mean, these are already useless." I infused them with kurota, and threw one of them as hard as I could towards it. It easily sliced through its tentacles, and upon contact, destroyed a large chunk of its main body. "Damn, I missed." I screamed loudly. I heard one of the school windows breaking. I readied the other one, and threw the second one towards it. This time I didn't miss.
There was a massive hole at its center. It collapsed. Black blood flooded the streets. Good thing no one could see this. Ugh, and there was that smell again. Not the one of blood and flesh, but that signature smell of a dying demon. Its spirit absorbed into me.
