//Jude//

We had to relocate to Simon's home because of the state my home was in of course. We had been questioned by the human cops and even by some of my neighbors. Some vamps did in fact see Penny when she left but they didn't know where she went. I was sitting in the spare room that Simon had for Lucy. We all were guilty and felt grief because we never trusted her and now look what happened. I felt the worst of all because of what I had done to her, because of things I said to her. There was no way to bring her back and it would be a miracle if she did. Her friend Saber was long gone but we had him set up in a spare room as well.

That made my mind drift to Marisa. This could have been her in one of these beds ready to be put into a grave. I just couldn't possibly see it. I sat in the darkness of the room brooding and thinking at the same time. My father was busy trying to hunt down Penny whilst Simon was helping him. Daniel was arranging funerals for the deceased and Ryan as well as Gale was running errands for my father getting everyone to hunt down his daughter. It would hurt our family name for people to know what has happened but that didn't matter because nothing more could overtake the pain of losing someone.

I got out of the chair and walked over to Lucy's pale lifeless body. She looked so young and innocent and my chest tightened at the guilt. I can't believe this happened because of our stupidity because of our own willpower being crushed in our very minds. I never want anything to happen like this again and I'm very thankful for Mika because she is taking care of Marisa. It's like on that thought I got the call. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and saw Mika's number. It was three in the morning so why was she calling.

I quickly answered it. "What's wrong?"

"It's Marisa she ran away." Mika's voice came out strained and worried. My eyes widened and I couldn't believe the news.

"You were supposed to be watching her. What the hell happened Mika?" I demanded angrily. I was already putting on my jacket that I threw over the back of my chair.

"We were watching her but it's really my fault. I should have told my kids not to tell her anything but she found out what was happening with you so I had to tell her the rest of the story. She ran away and the vision had come to me as a dream. When I woke up she was already gone, her window was wide open. I'm so sorry Jude." Mika said. I sighed.

"It's okay Mika but I have to find her. Penny is still out there and there's no telling whether or not she can get her hands on Marisa. I'm leaving at this very moment." I told her. I stood in the dark room talking to her through the phone.

"Jude please be careful and again I'm truly sorry. That girl...she's gone through so much pain in her life and all she needs is someone to love. I think that you're that someone for her." Mika said. I took her words in but I wasn't sue if she was right.

"It's okay Mika and I promise to be safe. Goodbye."

"Goodbye Jude" She said and then I heard the line go dead. I stuck my phone back in my pocket and then turned to Lucy. I walked over to her body and touched her hand.

"I'm sorry." I said to her and then I swiftly left out of the room. I went to the lab that Simon had in his basement. My father and him were working hard in there. They didn't look up but I knew they heard me.

"I have to go run a few errands myself and I'll be back by sun up Is that okay?" I told them, speaking more to my father.

"Leave the girl alone Jude she doesn't belong in this situation." My father said. He heard the conversation with Mika obviously. I froze."You can't go."He still wasn't looking at me as he read the book he held.

"But dad I need to find her. Penny is out there and she could hurt-" I didn't get to finish my sentence. My father turned around.

"It doesn't matter Jude she'll die in the end and you will get hurt either way. Just leave her be, she doesn't belong." His voice was strong and commanding. I wasn't one to go against orders from my father but I had too.

"Ezra" I said using his name."Please this is all I ask of you. I need to find her, talk some sense into her and then find a place to keep her safe. Now you must let me do that. She's very important to me." My voice was an octave louder and deeper. Simon looked up from whatever he had been doing.I was very determined. My father came close to me in a flash and we stood face to face. I kept my face void of weakness.

"Listen when I give you an order and you never use my name you hear me boy. I am your father and you answer to me."

"Dad" I said through my teeth." I'm leaving and don't try to stop me."I turned to go and felt a hand grab my arm.I looked back at my father's face.

"Jude I can't lose you as well. There's a reason why I tell you not to go. If you get hurt how can i call myself a father if I can't protect you just like Lucy." His voice was sincere and heart felt. I gently unwrapped his fingers from around my arm. I looked him straight in the eyes.

"Dad you just have to trust me, your son to be safe." I told him and before he could say anything I quickly left.
