Chapter 21

  "Because if they do I feel as if they really may never want me again. They actually will disown me, they believe I killed our mother but I didn't. It was Penny."

Lucy sounded as if she might cry. I put a comforting hand onto her back. I wasn't really shocked but Penny was a weird girl.

" She was trying to scare me just last week before the thing with your brothers happened. She said something about me staying out of family matters. I thought it was kind of creepy." I told Lucy. She sat up and I took my hand off her back.

"Yes the face she shows to my brothers is a mask that she puts on to hide her true self and I wasn't...I wasn't even supposed to tell you these things." Lucy had become wild eyed. She looked at Saber."I wasn't even supposed to tell you either. She's going to come and hurt me and probably our brothers as well. I'm too young to die now." By now her words were coming out fast and barely audible. I looked to Saber who was worried. He got off the couch and went to kneel down in front of Lucy and put a finger under her chin and lifted her head up to face him making her look into those grass green eyes.

"Listen Lucy no one's going to hurt you , not -" she cut him off.
"Yes they are" she sounded so sure of it. Saber shook his head and looked back into her eyes.
"No they're not because I'm here and I will never let anyone lay a finger on you. You got that" His voice had become strong and took another turn. I realized that he meant it and by the look on his face I knew that he was in love with Lucy. I turned away and scooted over a bit because this moment might become intimate.Lucy didn't say anything for a moment but then I heard her say,"Thank you Saber".

When his "you're welcome" came back it sounded muffled so I guess they were hugging. I looked back over and they were still hugging. I didn't want to be a prude but her brothers were trying to get in downstairs, so I cleared my throat loudly. They both pulled away blushing.

" Um sorry but what are we going to do about your brothers?. Are you going to tell them the truth?" I asked her. She shook her head.
"No I don't want them to know because if they go after her then she might kill them. I don't want them to die along with me as well. Who will our father have left then? He will more than likely fall into another coma." Lucy said sadly. I scooted over on the couch for Saber to sit down and then thought about what Lucy had said.

"I guess you have to do what's right and I have to do what's right also." I said out loud. Saber and Lucy both looked at me.

"And what's that?" They said at the time. I smiled.

"To go talk to your brothers." Lucy's eyes went wide.

"Are you crazy?. Or just stupid?." Lucy asked me. I shrugged my shoulders.

"Can I be both?" I asked playfully. Before Saber or Lucy could reply to that all of our heads turned at the sound of a door swinging open. Lucy's eyes went all but out there sockets. Poor girl.

"Guess that means your brothers have finally infiltrated.So what do we do now?" Saber said. He seemed like he wanted to fight but I don't think Lucy will let that happen.

" We're waiting for them to come to us. After what they did why should I come to them?" I found myself saying.

"Marisa!" a dark voice yelled. My eyes went wide and I looked at Lucy who was scared as well.
"Um are your brothers in vampire state?" I asked her.

"They weren't when we looked out the window." Lucy said."But that sounded like Simon and I think we're in for a load of shit." We all looked to the door then I looked back at Lucy who was just as scared as me.

"I don't want to freak out but I think I'm going to freak the hell out." I said rather shakily.

"So are we just going to sit here or are we going to run because if I may point out only one of us is a vampire, I'm a cat and she's a human." Saber pointed at me as he talked to Lucy. She was about to say something but I cut her off.

"Wait maybe they're just playing with us. Your brothers seem to be the playful type. Maybe we can go talk to them. " I was sounding stupid even to myself. I just didn't want to nearly die again okay. "As long as we're here they won't find-" I was cut off.

"Come out come out Marisa." Jude's voice said. His voice was light and playful yet dark at the same time. " You too Lucy we just want to...talk." He wasn't close by the way he had to sort of yell. That was good. I looked at Lucy frightened for us all.

"All right we just need to calm down surely they all can't be-" Lucy cut her self off and went wide eyed. She took in a breath.

"Lucy what's wrong?" Both Saber and I asked. We looked at each other. Lucy started to talk so we focused our attention on her.

"I know why they're like this." she said softly."It's because of her...It's because of Penny. I'm so stupid not to notice this before. Her power is to control people to turn them evil no matter how far or how close. She did this to our mother and father to lure them to their deaths but her powers weren't as strong then. She is leading our brothers to kill us and whenever she is going to be done with them. She may force them to kill each other." Lucy put her head into her small hands.

"It's not your fault Lucy so don't blame it on yourself. You tried to protect them in a way that left yourself vulnerable. Just don't cover for Penny's mistakes anymore." Saber told her. She looked up at him and gave a sweet smile.

" The question is how come you're not infected. You're twins so shouldn't you have the strongest bond?" I asked her. My curious side was kicking in yet again.

"Well it's because we're twins that I'm not infected by her power. I'm immune to this power but I'm not immune to the what she can do to my brothers or she may kill me when I least expect it. She's also immune to my powers whatever those are. I haven't quite got them yet." She didn't sound to sad about that. Maybe because of what it's done to Penny. We all turned our heads at the loud banging on the door.

" Can't they just rip the door down?" I asked scared. There was another bang on the door and I gulped.

"Yeah they can." Lucy said her quivering." They're just-" Saber cut her off.

"They're just playing with their next meal." Saber said."Marisa go hide." I looked up at him frantic. "Where the fuck am I supposed to hide in this place?" I asked him. He didn't say anything but grabbed my wrist and pulled me off the couch with him. He went over to the bookshelf and pulled out a red book. A small door opened at the bottom with books still on the shelves.

"Crouch down in there and stay you hear me." He said, his tone commanding. I nodded my head and did as he said crouching down and crawling into the compartment.

"Why are you doing this for me Lucy and Saber? I'm older shouldn't I be doing this for you" I asked them. Lucy got off the couch and came over, crouching down so she can talk to me. She put a stray hair behind my ear. Giving a sad smile Lucy said, "Age is nothing but a number and you're just a human."

Before I could protest she moved and Saber closed the door to the secret hideout. I was left in the darkness not knowing what was going to happen.
