"Impossible..." Yukari scanned the picture her partner showed her.

Her eyes flickered, eyeing every detail.

No doubt—the unmistakable golden, long flowing like a candlelight that shone brightly under the moonlight. A fedora, sharp and familiar, adding to her unmistakable charm, holding that angular suitcase.

"Is she back from the dead? That Mockingbird Phantom Thief?" Her partner questioned.

It was a picture that somehow caught the glimpse of the thief's features. She was holding her hat downwards, covering half the facial features with a masquerade mask. She always used a mask to hide her features.

'But her build was slightly broader, at least the shoulders and longer legs', Yukari thought.

"She disappeared twenty years ago. It wouldn't make sense." Yukari muttered in a low voice.

A loud bellow could be heard across the room. A man who's chased this phantom thief for a decade before she disappeared, has now felt delightful that the battle isn't over to catch her behind bars. That scream jolted the two partners by the unexpected shriek.

"Mockingbird Phantom Thief! Finally you shall feel my wrath when I capture you behind bars! I see you want to have war with me once more! Muahahaha!" Adriel Hungston exclaimed, standing up from his chair with his arms wide open, curving slightly open like an evil villain in a cartoon series.

Yukari face-palmed and sighed, "Seriously, can he hold back with this news?"

Yukari's partner, Yurina spoke, "Well it seems like he wants a reunion with the Mockingbird."

"Of course he does, but having the whole room to direct their attention to him seems crazy enough to me."

Nevertheless, she paid little attention to the head of the department, inspecting the image in closer detail. However without seeing more details than this right now, she figured she has to see this thief in person.

Early in the morning, the sun was shining brightly, seeping through the crevices of the houses as Yukari Yuki walked along the path on the way to the train. The air was cool with a small breath of the sun lightly tapping her skin warmly. Birds softly chirped and the ambience engulfed her. She felt refreshed—especially from the cool shower she took in the morning with her hair still wet.

Her hair was mostly black, but the streaks of deep red cutting through it made her hard to ignore. It framed her face in a way that felt sharp—like she knew too much. Her hair length curves slightly up above her shoulders with her frontal hair from the sides running along her jaw downwards in length with her chin. Her pupils were black with a light purple-maroon gradient from bottom to top. Dark, rough scales ran along her skin in sharp patches—winding over her arms, legs, scales leaning around her but not covering the throat, and her sides. Her tail was long and sleek, almost like polished obsidian. It curved with an elegant shape, ending in a sharp, pointed tip. Jagged scales covered the base, giving it a tough, almost armored look. The ridges along it made it feel part dragon, part something darker. They looked almost like charred stone, with faint red streaks that shimmered subtly in the light. Her stature was quite petite, but not too petite that she is shorter than other women, below average. Half human, half dragon Thiren.

She was on the way to work wearing formal clothes as an investigator. She always wears the jewellery that her mother gave her before she passed away. A black onyx. It was known to have some kind of healing power, but her mother never explained to her what it was. All she knew was that it could remove something.
