Chapter 1

"Come one Natalie" Arianna Wolfe, my best friend of six years, begged.

I was on my bed listening to her while she is trying to convince me to get out of the house.

I still remember the first day we met. It was the first day of fifth grade. I was the new kid and so was Arianna. We were outside for recess. I was walking by myself looking around the playground when I tripped over a soccer ball the boys were playing with. She came up and helped me get up. From then on we have been best friends. We have our fights, but our friendship is stronger than some dumb argument.

"You need to get out of this house" She said with a desperate sigh. I looked down at my hands, feeling my heart break again.

Ever since the break up with my ex boyfriend of two years, Daniel Owens, I haven't really been outside. I just stay cooped up in my comfortable home and watch 'The Vampire Diaries'.

Damon and Stefan could make any pain go away.

I still remember that day. The day Daniel broke up with me. I was broken. We would always talk about our future together.

Flashback to 3 months ago

There was only two months left until school ends. It was around 5:30pm. I was laying down while reading a book. I felt my phone vibrate and looked down to see Daniel texted me. It said 'meet me at the park'. I looked at what I was wearing. I had on sweatpants with a plain old t-shirt.  This will have to do. I threw my hair up into a messy ponytail and headed out. I decided I would just walk to the park. It was only four blocks from my house. Daniel and I had so many memories at that park. I arrived and seen Daniel sitting on a bench with his back facing me. I went behind him and put my hands on his eyes.

"Guess who it is" I said with a big smile plastered on my face.

He gently took his and put them on top of mine. He took my hands of his eyes and smiles at me sadly.

"What's wrong Daniel?" I asked with concern.

He took a deep breath and blew it out."Look Natalie. I think we should break up" He said without looking at me.

I actually seen this coming. He has been avoiding me lately.

"Who is she?" I whispered with tears forming in my eyes.

"What are you talking about?" He asked trying to play stupid. I knew this boy as well as I knew myself.

"Don't play dumb with me, Daniel!" I said raising my voice. People started looking towards us, but at that moment I really didn't care.

He looked down at his hands and whispered,"Shelby Rhodes".

I felt my heart sink to my stomach. He is dumping me for his next door neighbor. The girl who tries to ruin my life every chance she gets. That's who he is dumping me for?

I got up and wiped my tears trying to keep myself together.

"I wish you and her a happy future. Ya'll deserve each other" I stated calmly. I held my tears until I got to my room. I laid down and cried my eyes out that night until I finally fell asleep.

End of flashback

"Hello Earth to Natalie" Arianna said while snapping her fingers in my face. I pushed her hand out of my face.

"Are you crying?" She asked with a puzzled look.

I didn't even notice I was crying until she pointed it out. I quickly wiped them away.

"Sorry I was just thinking about stuff " I said with a sad smile.

Arianna already knows about the whole break up thing and she is helping me through it.

"Awh babes" She said while siting down beside me."He didn't deserve you."

After she said that I broke down crying. She just sat there rocking me back in forth trying to comfort me.

When I was done crying she looked at me and cleaned my tears away.

"You want me to go cut his balls off" She said with a serious voice. A smile made its way on my face.

This is why I love her. She always know how to make me smile when I'm feeling down.

I leaned in and gave her a hug.

"Thank you" I whispered in her ear.

"Anything for you babe" She said.

We sat there in comfortable silence.

Finally Arianna said,"When you were in your daze, I was telling you that I set you up a blind date" She said excitedly.I looked at her with shock all over my face.

She has always wanted me to leave Daniel. She always said 'He's no good for you' or 'All he's going to do is break your heart baby girl'. That's how most of our arguments started off as. I should've listened.

"Why would you do that?!" I asked bewildered. I wasn't ready to start dating someone else yet.

"It will be fun. Andrew and I will be there as well too" She said with a big smile. "He's really nice."

Andrew Tate was Arianna's boyfriend. They have been dating for about 2 and a half years. I envy them so much since me and Daniel broke up. Andrew is the captain of the football team while Arianna is the captain of the girls soccer team.

"How do you know he's nice?" I asked puzzled.

"He's one of Andrew's friends." She said with a sly grin.

I should have known Andrew had something to do with this. Andrew never liked Daniel. They were enemies.

"Which friend?" I questioned. All of Andrew's friends are jerks and I hate all of them.

"He doesn't go to our school he goes to Northside and is going to be a senior like us. He's also the quarterback of the football team." She said wiggling her eyebrows. I chuckled at her little persuasion to get me to go.

"I'm not going." I stared while folding my arms.

She looked down at her hands and started playing with her fingers."Too late. I already said you could go."

"What?!" I shouted

Calm down Natalie. You owe her for being there for you.

"Fine!" I mumbled throwing my arms up. "Just this once. You better be lucky I love you"

She ran up and hugged me. "I love you too."

She pulled away from the hug when we heard a phone start ringing. I looked at my phone hoping it was Daniel, but it was nothing. I felt disappointed. Stop! You need to get over him.

Arianna took out her phone and started talking. I wasn't paying attention until she said my name.

"I gotta go. My parents need me to watch my brother." She rolled her eyes."The date is Saturday at 8. I will text you the rest of the details." She said walking out

I hope he cancels on me.
