Sunday mornings have a different vibe, no alarms, no rush to get up and get going. Just me and my warm fuzzy blanket.
I rolled over to my side to grab my phone from my bedside table, I yawned, rubbing my eyes before scrolling through the stories everyone posted from last night.
I still can't believe they got engaged, it feels so real yet at the same time a beautiful dream. A smile tugged at my lips as I kept scrolling. A group photo popped up— Kabir and Rhea in the centre with all of us around them, laughing and cheering for them. My thumb hovered over the screen as my eyes flickered through the faces, one face in particular.
Arjun stood at the edge of the group, drink in his hand, laughing but nothing posed or fake— just an all natural, easy and unguarded smile. I didn't even realize that I had zoomed into the photo, until a notification popped at the top. I blinked quickly, not thinking too much about it.
I stretched my arms above my head, exhaling deeply. I opened our group chat and scrolled through the messages of Monica, Dimple and Simran— complaints about missing the party along with asking every detail about last night.
Just as I was replying, my phone buzzed against my hand, a video call.
I sat up straight, fixing my hair a little before answering the call.
"Gooood morning!" A loud, excited, and bubbly voice rang through the screen, accompanied by two other very cheery good mornings.
"Hello, hellooo," I exclaimed with a burst of excitement, trying to hide my sleepy voice.
"Looks like the party hangover isn't over yet," Dimple teased with a knowing grin.
I laughed, slightly blushing, which luckily went unnoticed by all.
"Well, some of us had a very boring—very responsible—night at home, so I want details!" Simran sighed, flopping onto the cushions on her couch. "Every. Single. Detail."
"We. You mean we need details," Monica corrected, sipping on her coffee.
"C'mon, spill." Dimple raised her eyebrows. "How was it? Did Kabir record the actual proposal?"
"Oooh, is there a video?" Monica gasped, leaning closer to the screen.
"Yesss! And it was beautiful," I declared dramatically, falling back onto the pillow behind me.
"Ughh, I can't believe we missed it! A once-in-a-lifetime moment, and we weren't there," Simran groaned, throwing her head back.
"Wait, wait—how did Rhea react? Did she cry?" Dimple asked eagerly. "You know it's not a real proposal unless someone cries."
I smiled, nodding. "Oh, she cried. A lot. And Kabir teased her about it the entire night."
"Awww," Monica gushed as she took another sip of her coffee.
"I bet Kabir was seconds away from bawling his eyes out," Simran scoffed.
"Oh, he definitely was," I sat up straight, nodding knowingly.
"Now that's a proper proposal," Dimple declared, raising her mug as if in a toast.
We all giggled.
"So," Monica smirked, tilting her head. "How does it feel to be the only one in this call who actually got to be there?"
"Well..." I tapped my chin dramatically. "Let's just say I had an amazing time." I blinked innocently.
"Ugh. Unfair," Simran sighed. "We demand a re-do party!"
I laughed. "Sure, sure, let me just call Kabir and tell him to throw another surprise party. No big deal."
