Eventually, I found what I was looking for: A random man walking down the street.
Me: "Hey there, could you help me out?"
Stranger: "...Oh, you're talking to me?"
Me: "Yeah, who else would I be talking to?"
Stranger: "Well, okay, what do you need help with?"
I slowly walked back towards a nearby Demon, and got close to it without touching it.
Me: "Do you see anything around me? Anything at all?"
Stranger, confused: "Um, no, not really."
Me: "Nothing out of the ordinary at all?"
Stranger, even more confused: "Uhh, no, I definitely don't see anything around you. Is this some kind of trick question?"
Me: "Hmm, well alright then, thank you for your time."
Stranger: "Ha? Oh... hmm. You're welcome?"
We bowed, and went our separate ways. I then went around asking the same question to other people I met on the streets until I'm satisfied.
I guess that's confirmed, the average person can't see Demons. I still don't know whether or not it's unique, but it's a nice first step.
I walked back to my house, and decided that I need more info about Demons in general. To ensure people can't see what I'm doing, I decided to go out through the back door located in my kitchen, which leads to the small garden that I never used. The foliage is quite dense, the grass is up to my knees, and it's crawling with Demons.
I took out my knife, and walked close to the one that looked the weakest without disturbing it, and jabbed the blade straight through what I'm assuming is its skull. It immediately started screaming and throwing its limbs at me. This Demon is quite small compared to the one from last night, but it still packs quite a punch. It tried to grab hold of me. I noticed, and twisted the knife while it's lodged in its eye. It started screaming again, and bleeding that familiar hot black liquid. The pain of my skin sizzling is quite unbearable. It also seemed that other Demons in the area have taken notice, and are all crawling their way to me. I decided to finish this by taking the blade out, and stabbing the Demon in front of me over, and over again.
The Demon falls, and started disintegrating in front of me, body, blood, and all. Damn, looks like I won't be able to dissect it after all. Then, I saw it for the second time, and yet I still don't know what I'm looking at. A black spirit-looking thing came out from the dead Demon, and flew towards me. I backed up in caution, but it quickly caught up, and threw itself at my wrist as if it's entering me. What the hell just happened there?
I looked around, and Demons were swarming around me. I dashed towards the door, but a lanky Demon stood in my way. I gripped my knife harder and ran faster than I ever thought I could towards the Demon barring my way. It tried to stop me, but I managed to fight through its barrage attack and stabbed it through one of its many eyes. I then pushed on the knife so hard that I started pushing the Demon back. I used my additional momentum to push the Demon and proceeded to nail it to the wall of my house using my knife. It died, disintegrated, and once again, a black spirit entered me through my wrist.
Without a moment to waste, I hastily ran for the door and closed it behind me before locking it. Okay, that was definitely not normal. Considering how I was basically powerless against the Demon from last night, how come those two died so easily? It doesn't make sense, unless... Those black spirit things-are they like the Demons' souls? Then that would confirm Hypothesis 3. But why would it enter me, of all things? Am I absorbing them somehow?
