______________

Oh my God.

Raven wasn't feeling up to it that day—the stress was chasing him again—but he found himself smiling at specific times in the school premises. It wasn't the brotherhood bonding that had him sighing and chuckling softly or feigning a scowl in an attempt not to laugh.

It was Kaya.

Kaya Olsen. Dark glowing caramel skin. Killer figure. Gorgeous looks. Wild, glossy, black curls that were either packed up or tumbled down her slim figure on their own accord. Sneakers, cargo pants, button up long sleeved white shirt with black cufflinks that gave her the aura of a commanding CEO.

Conclusion: She was gorgeous. Even though he had no interest in girls at the moment—he had a lot to be thinking of instead—if he just had to fall in love with someone, it would be someone with a persona that matched hers.

So happy she got so 'enamored' by Devon though. I'm so proud of him.

So lovely. And so.. hilarious, ha.

School courtyard. Lunch break. Devon was seated under a tree, as usual, silver rings glinting in the light as they settled on his fingers—Raven had told him multiple times not to wear those today—hunched over a book or just zoning out. And Kaya was sitting beside him again, cautiously upbeat.

Got to hand it to her—she's bold.

It had barely been two weeks since Kaya returned—from wherever she disappeared to. Raven remembered vividly, the instant she entered the cafeteria and Devon had to pause before he short-circuited and filled the entire desk with a portrait of her—literally. Unfortunately, Devon was a rather tough but to crack—he'd rather remain strangers with you than bother trying to see if there was a connection. Thank goodness Kaya seemed to be the persistent type—

—she better be. For entertainment purposes.

And so Raven placed himself at a strategically close point, ready to stifle laughs to his heart's content, lounged on a nearby bench, pretending to scroll on his phone.

Nope. I'm definitely eavesdropping.

Raven waited and waited, right up to the moment he literally wanted to groan, stand up and just bash their heads together so he could get a little harmless drama going that would cool the hovering dark cloud of stress and dread hanging over him. But at that exact moment, Kaya let out a nervous laugh. Raven stifled a relieved sigh.

About time, you two.

"So... you're reading that again?" came her question.

Devon, being his broody typical self, didn't even bother to raise his head to regard her. He just arched a brow and replied flatly, "It’s good. Or maybe.. it’s just quieter than people."

Kaya tilted her head, confused. Raven just sighed loudly from his bench. This guy..

God, stop acting so clueless.

Raven raised his phone to his face once again and muttered under his breath:

"Translation: he likes it. He's just allergic to sounding normal."

Kaya turned to him, looking genuinely surprised—something that seemed to throw Raven off—and amused.

Raven glanced at the two for a second and caught Kaya staring at him, pursing her lips like she was thinking of what to say to him—or rather, thinking what not to say to him, like she didn't trust him or something.
