~~Gretchen's POV~~
"Oh my god, there's Jason!"
Karen's head snaps back at me, alarmed.
"And he's with Taylor Wedell," I whimper.
"I heard they're going out," Karen supplies. I get that she's trying to help, but she's making me feel worse.
Regina scoffs and calls him out, even going as far to prank call Taylor's mom. This is one of the few moments where I actually feel grateful for Regina.
This shouldn't be allowed. Jason is supposed to be mine, not some other hoebag's!
His cocktail smirk is starting to piss me off. The way he looks at Taylor... he doesn't look at me like that.
Without meaning to, I glance over at Y/N. Her expression is hard to decipher, but there's clearly some sort of... jealousy and rage on her face. Her hands are balled into fists, and they're shaking as she glares at Jason.
Why is she jealous? I'm normally good at processing people's emotions, but Y/N is such a mystery to me. I can't understand her, even if I try.
Regina rolls her eyes. "He's literally not worth it, Gretchen. I don't understand why you're obsessed with guys. Like him," she adds. I see panic flicker for a second across her face. That's weird.
I look back at Y/N, who is still staring at Jason like she has a death wish. My mind flashes back to the time we spent in the car; with my body pressed against Y/N's due to the limited space inside the car.
Sitting so close to her caused my heart to beat wildly fast for some reason. My hands turned clammy, and so much sweat beaded on my forehead that I started reapplying my makeup.
I tried to be subtle about it, but Regina kept glancing at me in the rearview mirror. Does she know something I don't?
Karen tugs at my sleeve. "Gretchen," she pants. "Let's go into that store. I found something really cute that I bet will look great on you."
Her smile is so innocent that I have to smile and nod, following her lead.
Karen pulls the outfit off the hook and shoves me into the changing room. "You're going to look so fetch!" Her use of my slang word gives me that extra boost of confidence, and I step into the room.
~~Y/N's POV~~
As Gretchen disappears behind the curtain, Regina sneers to Karen, "Stop helping Gretchen make 'fetch' happen. It's not going to happen."
Karen's eyes bug a little, and her mouth opens slightly. "Oh... okay."
"Gretchen," calls Regina, a hint of impatience in her tone. "Come out!"
"Coming!" As Gretchen emerges, I have to use all my willpower to stop my jaw from dropping. The skirt was so short that another inch off would make me see her underwear. Not only that, but the skirt plumped up her ass and showed off her legs. The top was a short crop top that hugged her tits just enough that it made them perk out. Her stomach was exposed just enough so that I could see her perfectly toned abs.
"Well?" Gretchen says, looking for a sign of approval.
Regina smirks. "I think Y/N's enjoying the show, don't you think, Gretch?"
"What? Of course not," I insist. I continue looking at her up and down and add without thinking, "You look... fetch."
Gretchen's smile is so big at this that I can ignore Regina's glare. I can't help but smile back like an idiot.
Karen squeals. "I guess you're keeping it!" She skips over and checks the price tag.
Regina puts on a smile. "Sure. Come on, let's go to my house. My mom's making drinks."
Cady, who was so quiet that I barely remembered she was here, speaks up. "What about our homework?"
Gretchen blinks, confused, while Regina smirks. Karen, on the other hand, stares at her friends and says, "We had homework?"
Regina rolls her eyes again. "Whatever. I'll do it later. Come on."
As I follow the Plastics, I give Cady an apologetic look. To be honest, I was going to ask that, so I silently thank Cady for saving my social reputation.
