They had landed.
Seungcheol stumbled, falling onto his hands and knees on what looked like a clean hardwood floor.
"Where-"
Before he could finish, Cheol clamped a hand over his mouth.
"We're home," Cheol whispered. "My home. Your future home. And if you do anything that makes Mom suspect something, I swear I'll throw you back in time myself."
Seungcheol nodded frantically, eyes wide with excitement.
As Cheol quietly opened the door from the garage into the house, soft humming could be heard from inside.
A soft, sweet voice.
Joshua's voice.
Cheol visibly softened. Seungcheol did not miss that. In fact, he stared as his son melted into a puddle of peace just hearing his mom's voice.
Seungcheol's heart did a triple somersault.
"That's... Joshua, isn't it?" he whispered, already whispering love in his heart.
Cheol gave him a warning glare. "Don't say his name. Not here."
"But-" Seungcheol's whisper turned dreamy, his eyes glinting, "Joshua... Joshua..."
Cheol smacked a hand to his forehead. "You really are my dad."
Seungcheol chuckled softly. "So whipped even in the future, huh?"
Cheol didn't answer.
But his silence said everything.
And just then, soft footsteps approached from the hallway, and both Cheols froze-one wide-eyed with infatuation, the other with dread.
"Just stay behind the door, and do not breathe," Cheol whispered, dragging Seungcheol behind the wall as the doorknob began to turn.
Joshua's humming grew louder.
The door opened with a gentle click, and in stepped him-Joshua, still humming a soft tune under his breath, a dish towel slung over his shoulder, and a tray of cookies in hand.
Seungcheol gasped. Loudly.
Cheol smacked his hand over his dad's mouth again, whispering harshly, "What did I just say?!"
But it was too late. Joshua froze mid-step, blinking toward the door with a confused tilt of his head.
"...Hello?" he called out gently. "Is someone there?"
Cheol silently dragged Seungcheol deeper behind the door, both of them holding their breaths. Joshua stepped closer, peering around. His eyes scanned the room once, twice-then he shrugged, smiling to himself and turning away.
"Must've been kids playing around again," he murmured and padded down the hallway.
As soon as he was gone, Seungcheol exploded in hushed whispers.
"HE'S STILL SO PRETTY!"
"Dad-"
"HE'S EVEN PRETTIER THAN I IMAGINED!! HE'S-HE'S-"
"DAD!! SHUT UP!!"
Seungcheol grabbed Cheol's arm with both hands, pleading. "Let me talk to him! Just once! Pleaseee-"
"No."
"Please please please-"
"Dad. I'm not even allowed to time jump like this, let alone drag you in here and risk changing the future. If Mom finds out you were here, and I'm the one who brought you-I'm doomed."
