Seungcheol skidded to a halt, nearly tripping over his own feet as Cheol caught up with him, still panting like he'd just run a marathon.
"Omg... gasp Dad... gasp... stop... I can't... take it anymore." Cheol doubled over, hands on his knees as he struggled to catch his breath.
Seungcheol turned around, narrowing his eyes, his heart still racing from the weirdest chase of his life. "Yahhh, brat! What the hell do you think you were doing?!"
Cheol wiped his forehead dramatically, pretending he was in serious distress. "You didn't tell me mom was THIS pretty!"
Seungcheol froze.
A cold sweat crept up his spine. His brain short-circuited. His mouth went dry.
"Wh-what the hell did you just say?" Seungcheol's voice was strained, like his soul had left his body for a second.
"Mom," Cheol repeated, grinning mischievously. "Mom is hot. You didn't tell me. I mean, I saw him from a distance, but up close? Wow."
Seungcheol's entire face turned beet red. "I-I don't know what you're talking about. Who even-he-isn't even my-he-JOSHUA-" Seungcheol stammered, utterly lost in his own mess of words.
Cheol raised an eyebrow, a teasing smirk curling on his lips. "Mmmm... whatever you say, 'dad'," he said, the sarcasm dripping from his words. "But he definitely looked like your type. You are so whipped. It's so obvious."
Seungcheol swore his head was about to explode. He ran a hand through his hair, his thoughts scattered all over the place. "Shut up! You don't know anything!"
"Oh, I know everything," Cheol said, voice dripping with confidence. "I know that you totally have the hots for him, dad. You just don't want to admit it. You're like a teenager in love."
"I'M NOT IN LOVE-" Seungcheol was practically shouting now, his face a deep shade of crimson. "Shut up! You don't even know what you're talking about!"
Cheol just gave him a sly smile, leaning back and crossing his arms. "Yeah, yeah, old man. Just keep pretending."
Seungcheol huffed, his heart pounding faster than he could process. The boy was insufferable. But as much as he wanted to deny it, Cheol had struck a nerve. The truth was-he had feelings for Joshua. He always had. But admitting it out loud? In front of his son, no less?
Yeah, no. That was not happening today.
"Just-don't talk about it, okay?" Seungcheol muttered, his voice barely above a whisper, the frustration dripping from his tone.
Cheol's smirk never wavered. "Fine, fine. But don't think I didn't notice." He turned around and began walking toward the house, not giving Seungcheol a chance to respond.
Seungcheol stood there for a moment, his heart still racing. He could hear Cheol's playful steps ahead of him, the boy clearly enjoying every second of this embarrassing moment.
Seungcheol groaned, rubbing his face. "This is the worst thing that's ever happened to me..."
But deep down, he knew Cheol was right. He was in trouble. And now that the kid had completely figured him out? He'd never hear the end of it.
Seungcheol, still reeling from the earlier events, finally mustered up the courage to ask the question he'd been desperately trying to avoid.
"So... is Joshua really your mom? I mean, you know..." Seungcheol's voice trailed off, unsure of how to phrase it without sounding completely ridiculous.
