💌PROPOSAL IN PROGRESS-CHAPTER-3

Start from the beginning

Amma looked at Appa and whispered, "Did they ask for horoscope?"

"He said he'll check and give number tomorrow if things look okay."

Thara perked up from the couch and shouted like she was watching Bigg Boss, "Ohh akkkkaaa! One more boy inquiry, aa?"

"Shhh," I warned her, narrowing my eyes.

"Enna pa... maybe this Karthik anna will like my akka's cooking skills and fall head over heels," she teased, munching on a banana.

I laughed softly despite myself. That girl doesn't let any moment go dull.

But inside... I felt that familiar pang. What if this one also fades away like the others? I'm tired of rejections—not because it hurts my ego—but because it keeps breaking my parents' hope.

Still, I whispered to myself, Let's see. Maybe... maybe this time

Third pov :

Kannan sat on the veranda in his white veshti and striped towel across his shoulder, sipping his coffee while waiting anxiously for Moorthy. Every few minutes, he glanced at the gate like he was expecting news from a long-lost friend.

Just then, Moorthy walked in with his usual cheerful smile and a plastic bag of vegetables in hand.

Kannan stood up immediately, hope flickering in his eyes. "Enna pa? What did the girl's family say?" Moorthy chuckled and gave a reassuring nod.

"They're okay with it, anna! Just send Karthik's horoscope to my number—I'll forward it to them on WhatsApp."

Without wasting even a second, Kannan rushed inside, took out the neatly kept horoscope photo from the drawer, and sent it to Moorthy. In return, Moorthy sent Nithya's horoscope to Kannan.

As the files flew over the phone, Moorthy added sincerely,
"Don't worry, anna. The family's really good. The girl... very sweet, respectful, working in a bank. No show-off, no drama."

Kannan let out a small breath of relief, and a smile finally crept across his face.
Radha, who had been silently watching from inside, came out with an extra tumbler of coffee for Moorthy and placed it beside him.

"Inimey oru nalla vishayam nadakkattum," she murmured with folded hands, looking toward the temple tower visible at a distance. ("Let something good happen from now.") That very evening, both families went to their respective astrologers—Kannan to their trusted family priest near Saidapet and Shanmugam to a small office behind Vadapalani Murugan temple.

And to everyone's surprise—
The horoscopes matched. Perfectly.

Shanmugam looked at Selvi in disbelief as the astrologer gave a green signal.
Meanwhile, in Kannan's house, Radha's eyes welled up a little—not out of sadness, but relief. For the first time in a long time, things didn't fall apart. There was no rejection, no awkward excuse. Just a simple "It's a good match."

Without waiting, Kannan dialed Shanmugam's number—Moorthy had already passed it earlier.

"Shanmugam sir? I'm Karthik's father. Just now checked the horoscopes. All good from our side. Shall we meet?"

Shanmugam, equally warm, responded with a chuckle.
"Of course, sir. Why don't we meet in Murugan temple this weekend? It'll be peaceful and simple."

Both agreed.

And in true middle-class fashion—they decided to keep this whole thing under wraps from Karthik and Nithya... at least until the first meeting. Let the kids focus on their work.
