When the car pulled up to the school, I stepped out without a word. Gael got out as well, but I didn't acknowledge him or say anything. Without sparing him a glance, I walked straight into the building. As I entered my classroom, I spotted Silas, Kendric, Adan, Rio, and Atlas already seated, talking among themselves. Adan, as usual, was absorbed in his game. I made my way to my seat, which was right behind Silas. He and Adan sat together, leaving me stuck with the person I liked the least Atlas. That guy was completely obsessed with himself.
I didn't have many friends. In fact, for most of my life, I had only two, silas and adan. We had been close since childhood, but ever since high school started, Silas kept adding more and more people to our group. Whenever we went out, he'd bring someone new along, and that's how the others eventually became my so-called friends too. I greeted Adan first, then Kendric, then one by one, Rio and Atlas. Finally, I turned to Silas. He extended his hand toward me for a handshake. I grabbed his hand and shook it.
"How are you, Kill?" he asked. "I'm fine. What about you?" I replied. "I'm good too," Silas said before glancing across the classroom and waving at someone. I followed his gaze, and my mood instantly soured. Ugh. Gael. Ever since Gael started studying in my class, Silas had been talking to him a lot, hanging out with him, and overall getting too close for my liking. It annoyed me beyond words. He’s my friend, alright? Mine! I mean, not that I’m jealous or anything… but—ugh—yeah, whatever!
"By the way, Kill, I watched this anime a few days ago," Silas started, his excitement evident. "It was amazing. You have to watch it! I totally recommend it." "Your recommendations are always boring," Rio commented from behind us. "Boring?!" Silas shot back, offended. "If you watch this one, I swear, your next seven generations will remember it. There's only one word that can describe it. masterpiece."
"More like gutterpiece," Rio muttered under his breath. "You tell them, Kill! You watched all those animes I recommended, right? Were they trash or not?" Silas asked, turning to me expectantly. I looked at him and shook my head. "See!" Silas pointed at Rio triumphantly. "You mostly watch romantic animes. Gross," Kendrick said, giving Rio a look of disgust. Rio smirked, tilting his head. "Oh? So, you don't like romance?." "Not at all. It's all useless crap," Kendrick scoffed. "Yeah, just like how you totally didn't kiss Riya yesterday," Rio shot back, grinning. Kendrick froze. "H...how did you...w-wait, how do you even know about that!?"
And just like that, the two of them started bickering again. I sighed, choosing to ignore them. I glanced at Silas, and. ahh. Speaking of kisses. It suddenly reminded me of something. I still remember that one time in childhood when Silas kissed me, thinking I was asleep. And I also heard that he had a crush on me back then. Even now, he probably thinks I have no idea about it. Cute.
Ahem.
Moments later, the teacher arrived, and class began. After the lecture, there was a short 20 minute period where another teacher usually came in to give a talk about cleanliness and hygiene. But today, He didn't show up. Following that was the break period. Since there was nothing else to do in those 20 minutes, I got up and stepped out to take a walk. Hunger gnawed at me, so I headed toward the canteen.
The canteen wasn't usually open at this time, but there was a vending machine, so I went there to grab something to eat. I inserted some money, got a cold drink and a snack, and quickly finished them. Just as I was about to head back to class, the break bell rang. I returned to my seat while the others stood up to leave for the canteen. "Aren't you coming?" Silas asked, looking at me. "No, I'm not hungry," I replied. He stared at me for a second before nodding and walking off with the others.
As I sat alone in the empty classroom, the silence felt strangely heavy. Everyone else had left for the canteen, their laughter and chatter fading down the hall. I leaned back in my chair, staring blankly at the desk in front of me.
