The Chosen One found himself meeting up with The Second Coming, Rouge, and Lace White back at the quiet archive, alongside the previous Codeborn members.
Valhalla and Driftwood read through folders upon folders of virus monster research; the Color Gang occupied the large chalkboard for themselves, doodling on its surface; meanwhile the Officials stuck closer together, staring at the archive's historical atmosphere with deep curiosity.
But right now in a moment of peace, a more serious matter stumbled into their hands.
The hollowheads, Rouge, and Lace gathered around the desk. Rouge grabbed a thick, cluttered notebook from his desk while Lace White arranged his ink and quills for him. The Chosen One stood near, arms crossed, glancing at The Second Coming with mild intrigue.
The Second Coming was the one who asked for this meeting, though The Chosen One remained unaware of its purpose. But what he did know—The Second Coming had something to disclose.
As the four surrounded the desk, Rouge dipped his quill and hovered over the blank page. He glanced up to The Second Coming and tilted his head. Now—what was it that he needed to say?
The Second Coming hesitated. He glanced at The Chosen One, who gave him a reassuring nod. A silent encouragement.
The Second Coming glanced back at Rouge's notebook, before he let out a sharp exhale. He laid his hands to Rouge's desk, setting a name onto the table—Queen of Hearts. Lace White and The Chosen One exchanged a glance as Rouge wrote the name down to his notebook. As Rouge wrote, The Second Coming continued.
He found something when he explored Queen of Hearts' mind—something lost to time, under the corruption of evil. His gaze drifted at a pile of sketches on the desk, and he searched carefully, before he finally found it.
In his hands, he held out the drawing of the Dark Web's fabled hero.
The three glanced at the picture attentively. They've known that face—through legends and passed down stories from the first refugees. The figure, despite their whereabouts unknown, was a symbol of strength and hope in the lowest of times. What did they have to do with Queen of Hearts?
The Second Coming set the picture down, his expression darkening.
The figure... They—she, actually—was no longer one that remained untouchable. No longer than just a lost legend.
He found her.
Queen of Hearts was never the Dark Web's tormenter they knew her of today. She had once been a figure named Null—the 'fire-wielding hero.'
A suffocating silence hung over them. The Chosen One and Lace exchanged disbelieved stares, but Rouge remained the most collected, his writing unwavering from the notebook. But even he had a little hesitance, his quill trembling.
But The Second Coming wasn't finished.
Under those tortured years Null has been through, it mangled her into something unrecognizable—one where she no longer was the beloved savior of all.
She turned into something she didn't want to become.
The Second Coming's breath hitched before delivering the final truth. He didn't want her to be remembered like this—not as the cult leader that the Dark Web had come to fear. He didn't want her to be seen as a monster—but just as Null.
