"Run Bella! Get away from here quickly!"

I'm terrified.

I can hear men yelling outside angrily as they aggressively break into our house.

"Go now, Bella! You still have a chance..." my mother pushes me towards the ominous back door. Everything's happening so fast. One minute I'm snuggled in my turquoise bed sheets within the safe walls of my room and the next my own mommy is forcing me away.

"B-But what about y-you and d-daddy and..." my shaky voice is cut off when someone or I should say something breaks down our front door in the distance. "Please hurry, my love, daddy and I will be right behind you. Run to the woods and don't stop for anyone, my sweet. Run until your little feet can't run anymore. Can you do that for mommy?" my mom pulls my small trembling body in for a bone-crushing hug. The pain in her eyes shines clearly like her pounding heart.

Reluctantly, I take my first step out of the house before turning back to my mommy with a worried smile. "I-I love you, m-mommy," I whisper as a tear or two escapes from my mommy's bright blue eyes that match my own. "I love you to the moon and back, my angel," she smiles while giving me a small wave.

Without another word, I race into the woods just like my mommy asked, running as fast as my short legs allow me. Little did I know, that moment was the last time I will ever see my mommy and the rest of my family again.

I just discovered my wolf a few days ago, so we're still learning how to work together. This means she can't help me run any faster. My daddy promised he would teach me how to connect with her this weekend. Hopefully, he still can when he and my mommy come find me.

After scampering past many bushes and jumping over fallen trees, I found the river daddy and I always play at. I'm shocked my little legs have taken me so far, daddy used to tell me this river sits a few hours from our house.

My tired body begs me to stop as I watch the calm blue water rippling down the stream under the moonlight. My body didn't need much convincing before I sink to my knees wiping tears from my puffy, red face. "It's okay...mommy and daddy will be okay. I'll see them tomorrow for breakfast...daddy's gonna make me pancakes with gummy bears!"

I try so hard to think happy thoughts like my mommy always tells me, but deep down I know something is wrong.

My surroundings are mostly quiet despite my constant sniffling, "I'm okay, I'm at daddy and I's river. He'll come to get me soon.." no matter how many times I try to cheer myself up the fear of my family getting hurt annoyingly prances around in my head.

"I-I am all alone..." I sniffle a few times watching a little black beetle crawl by my knees. "They aren't come to get me, are they? Do I h-have a family a-anymore?" My heart beats fast in worry. What will I do? Where do I go? Mommy and daddy have to come back!

It isn't long before anger replaces the sadness in my heart. I did nothing to help my mommy, I should've stayed with her! Why do I have to be such a cry baby? I should've helped her escape, but I'm only nine, there isn't much I can do to help my pregnant mommy.

A pathetic whimper squeezes past my lips as I curl myself into a ball. My pink nightgown now has dirt stains all over it to match my knotty blonde hair caked with dirt. I'm sure my mommy would call me a messy princess if she were here...

Gasping for air, I jolt up in bed. Beads of sweat coat my forehead as the white bedsheets pool down at my waist. My long, tangled hair falls over my face while I push my now hot sheets from my sweaty body.
