Haley, Callie, Jess, and a few others were all sat at our usual table in the cafeteria. As I set my tray down and take a seat, I nod at Callie. "Where's your lunch?"

"I'm skipping it. I'm doing this juice cleanse instead."

I bite my tongue from saying something that would offend her. There was always something with her. Last week, she claimed she was going to go vegetarian and then the week before that she said she was going vegan. Usually, she went back to her normal eating habits within a few days, so I just smiled at her and said, "Oh, cool."

The conversation faded out about plans for this weekend, but my mind was elsewhere.

Zayn. I can't get him or our last conversation from last night out of my head. We were going to do this. We were really going to do this. I was unsure of how it would work, considering our colliding personalities and expectations. The only thing I was sure of was that I wanted to be with him. Which was stupid because just a few weeks ago, I had nothing, but hate for him.

All it took was a few kisses and touches for me to be physically attracted to him, but it were the glimpses of the other side of him that kept drawing me back to him every time he said or did something that pushed me away. The night he saved me from Dean, the long hours he held me when I was in pain, the day he pushed me to let out my anger and fight back. All those memories strung together softened my heart for him.

Now, he was under my skin and no matter what I did, I couldn't shake him.

"Hey!" Haley snapped her fingers in front of my face. "What do you think?"

"I'm sorry, what?"

"This year's homecoming theme. What do you think we should do? I'm leaning towards glow in the dark, but Callie says we should do a Vegas themed one."

Homecoming was next weekend and we were playing our biggest rival, so everyone was buzzing about it. Plus, it was also our last high school homecoming, so that made it even more important and memorable.

The girls and I are on charge of all the school's major events such as fundraisers and school dances, so it was up to us to make the big decisions regarding them because we were on the events coordinating committee. Not only was it another thing to add on to our college applications, but it also gave us more time to spend time together. "A theme? How about we skip a theme this year and instead put more money on having a killer DJ and some good food? It's dark and no one really pays attention to the decorations that much anyway, so it's just a waste of money."

"We have to have decorations though," Haley insisted.

"We can have balloons and streamers. Let's just not go all out," I told her.

"Yeah, I'm with Adrianna on this one," Jess agreed. "No one gives a damn about the decorations. What's the point if the music sucks?"

"They've got a point Hales," Callie chimed in.

Haley let her shoulders fall in defeat. "Alright, alright. You guys are right. No theme this year, just some simple decorations then," she repeated while she typed the information into her "Notes" app on her phone.

The table moved on to talking about how they couldn't wait for Thanksgiving break to come sooner, but I got lost in their conversation all thanks to a certain raven-haired bastard that was stealing my attention.

I close my English book, War and Peace, after reading the last page. My eyes are tired from staring at the small text for so long and I stretch my limbs, taking note that it was almost midnight. I was relieved that I finished the book though. Now, I just had to read Great Expectations and prepare for the big seminar I had in a few weeks.
