Daniela Williams never believed in love at first sight. It always seemed like something out of a cliché romance novel—too unrealistic, too dramatic.
That was until she met them.
Ares and Erik Miles.
Two brothers. Two completely different worlds.
It happened on an ordinary fall afternoon in Ashford, the small town Daniela had just moved to for college. She didn't know anyone, didn't have a reason to be anywhere in particular. So she wandered. Camera in hand, she let her feet lead her to the outskirts of town, where the air smelled like rain, and the sound of rushing water filled the silence.
That's when she found it—an old, abandoned bridge covered in rust and vines. Something about it felt frozen in time, a perfect shot waiting to be captured. She lifted her camera, framing the scene, completely lost in the moment.
Until she felt someone watching her.
"Nice shot."
The deep, smooth voice sent a shiver down her spine. Daniela turned, her breath hitching slightly when she saw him.
He was leaning against a sleek black motorcycle, arms crossed over his chest, one boot resting casually against the gravel. His jet-black hair was messy in a way that looked intentional, and his sharp green eyes held a flicker of amusement. A smirk played at his lips, like he knew exactly what kind of effect he had on people.
Ares Miles.
Even without knowing his name, Daniela could tell he was dangerous in all the ways that made girls lose their minds.
Before she could respond, another voice—lighter, smoother—broke the silence.
"You're standing at the worst possible angle, though. Try shifting left."
She turned and saw him.
Blonde hair, same striking green eyes, but everything about him was different. Where the first guy looked like he belonged in a street fight, this one carried himself with an effortless charm. He was clean-cut, wearing a dark hoodie and sneakers, his hands tucked into his pockets. His gaze was warm, friendly—inviting in a way that made her feel safe.
Erik Miles.
Brothers. Completely opposite. Yet somehow, both impossible to ignore.
She should've walked away then. Should've smiled politely, said thank you, and left before she got caught up in something she didn't understand.
But instead, she stayed.
And that changed everything.
Daniela soon learned that Ares and Erik weren't just two guys she met by chance. They were the Miles brothers—the sons of Thomas Miles, one of the wealthiest businessmen in Ashford. But if they had the same blood running through their veins, it was hard to tell.
Erik was everything his father wanted in a son—charming, intelligent, effortlessly likable. He was the golden boy, the one who shook hands with the right people and made everyone feel important. He was always smiling, always saying the right thing at the right time.
Ares? He was the disappointment.
A boxer. A street racer. A reckless fighter who refused to play by the rules. Their father barely acknowledged him, as if he wasn't even part of the family. Maybe that's why Ares never cared about being good—because no matter what he did, it was never enough.
And yet, despite all that, he was protective over Daniela in a way she didn't understand.
She didn't know why, but whenever Ares was around, he had this way of standing just a little too close, watching her like he was waiting for something to happen. He was cold, rough around the edges, but when it came to her, there was something almost... possessive about him.
Erik, on the other hand, was warm, welcoming—everything Aris wasn't. He made her feel special in a way that was easy, effortless. He didn't push her away or make her second-guess herself.
Two brothers. One protective. One loving.
And Daniela Williams?
She was caught somewhere in between.
