This time, the kiss was slower—less of a rush, more of a deliberate claim. His fingers traced the curve of your spine, sending sparks through every nerve as he pulled you impossibly closer. There was a heat between you now, something neither of you could pretend wasn’t there.
You sighed against his lips, tilting your head as he deepened the kiss, his movements no longer hesitant but purposeful. It was intoxicating—the way he tasted, the way his touch sent fire racing through your veins. His thumb brushed along your jaw, featherlight compared to the grip on your waist, and the contrast made you shiver.
Liu Xiao felt it. You knew because he hummed softly, barely pulling back, his breath warm against your lips. “You’re shaking.”
You exhaled a breathy laugh, your hands fisting into his hoodie as if to ground yourself. “Maybe.”
His lips ghosted along your cheek, dangerously close to your ear. “Is it from the cold,” he murmured, “or because of me?”
You swallowed hard, heat coiling in your stomach at his tone—so low, so full of something that sent your pulse racing. “You really have to ask?”
His smirk was all you got before he kissed you again, this time trailing his lips along your jaw, then lower, just enough to make you dizzy.
“Liu Xiao—” You barely managed to get his name out, your breath catching as his hand splayed across the small of your back, holding you steady.
“Hmm?” His voice was almost teasing, but the way he was looking at you—like you were the only thing that mattered in the world—made your heart ache.
You didn’t have words. Not really. So instead, you did the only thing that made sense—you pulled him back in, claiming his lips in a kiss that was just as desperate as it was sweet.
He groaned softly against your mouth, and something about that sound—about knowing you were the reason for it—made your head spin.
Eventually, he broke away, but he didn’t let you go. His forehead rested against yours again, his breath uneven, his hands still lingering on your waist.
“If you keep looking at me like that,” he murmured, voice rough, “I won’t let you go home tonight.”
Your pulse jumped, but you smirked. “Who said I want to go home?”
Liu Xiao stilled. Then, slowly, his lips curled into something dangerous. “Be careful what you say.”
You grinned, running your fingers through his hair, feeling the way he shivered under your touch. “I don’t think I want to be careful.”
He let out a sharp breath, his grip on you tightening. “You’re going to be the death of me.”
You just smiled. “Then we’re even.”
