Liu Xiao didn’t move, didn’t speak. His fingers barely grazed yours, but the weight of that simple touch was enough to send your heart racing.
You could see it in his eyes—hesitation, fear, but also something deeper. Something he was struggling to contain.
Slowly, you turned your hand, letting your fingers intertwine with his. He tensed, but this time, he didn’t pull away.
"Liu Xiao," you whispered, watching him carefully. "You don’t have to do this alone."
His throat bobbed as he swallowed hard. The city lights reflected in his silver-blue eyes, but for once, he wasn’t looking past you—he was looking at you.
"I don’t know how to do this," he admitted quietly, his voice raw.
You stepped closer, close enough to feel the warmth of his body against the cool night air. "Then let me show you."
A shaky breath left his lips. And then, finally, finally, he let his walls crumble.
His hands tightened around yours before sliding up your arms, resting lightly on your shoulders. It was cautious, almost as if he was afraid you’d disappear.
"You’re real," he murmured, almost to himself.
You smiled gently. "I’ve always been here."
Liu Xiao exhaled sharply, and before you could say another word, he closed the distance between you.
His lips brushed against yours—soft, hesitant, testing. As if he was still unsure if he was allowed to have this, to have you.
But when you responded, tilting your head to deepen the kiss, he melted. His hands cupped your face, fingers threading into your hair as he pressed closer, desperate to hold onto this moment.
You could feel it—the years of loneliness, the fear of attachment, all unraveling as he poured himself into the kiss. It wasn’t just passion; it was vulnerability, a silent confession of everything he had been too afraid to say.
When you finally pulled back, breathless, his forehead rested against yours. His fingers ghosted over your cheek, his touch impossibly tender.
"You’re not leaving, are you?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
You shook your head, smiling. "Not a chance."
For the first time, Liu Xiao allowed himself to believe it.
And for the first time, he let himself feel.
